nope, I use swype exclusively and haven't had an issue. Stock everything un rooted.

Battery seems to be better than previous version.

repetenz: Anyone having battery or swype issues on this release? my swype is flashing from alphabet to numpad and back again, non-responsive. Have to change back to the default keyboard.

Seems to be noted on some other forums.

Yep I have the Swype issue too - change to another keyboard and change back and it's okay for a while!  Battery life is much much better than before, but only after I had uninstalled the battery saver that I had.

Three colleagues and I all had sudden battery death - once we uninstalled the battery saver (easy battery saver I think) - everything was great.

Only 1 app died - that was the TranzMetro train app - just doesn't work under ICS.

If you find a solution to the Swype problem, please let me know.

Procrastination eventually pays off.

I don't use swype but I did have battery issues for the first few days then after several recharges  the battery is better than it was in 2.3.3

Yea the battery issue seems to have sorted itself, and appears to be a feature of a freshly flashed ICS install. 2 or 3 full discharge cycles and i've been running since Saturday night and still at 4pm Monday have 28%, so that's much better then 2.3.3.

As for the swype issue, Telecom appear to have acknowledged the issue, but don't offer any immediate fixes other than the usual factory reset/uninstall extra added possibly non ICS compatible apps/reflash advice.

I've done the factory reset, didn't make any difference to swype. I'm uncertain about the extra apps issue, so I've just gone and got SlideIt for now and will monitor this for the next few months... hopefully they push out a 4.0.4 at some point and fix swype while they are at it.

old3eyes: And the answer is Android 4.0.3

But I see this AAp news app has been installed as well. The one that was on Fair Go last nite..
Now to see how to get rid of it..

Care to comment on this application as I didn't see Fair Go.

Have a look here. ?It explains it better than I can..

When I first got my SGSII, last year, AP Mobile managed to chew through 300mb of my 2GB plan in about 35 minutes. I found it after the phone was about a billion degrees in my pocket...

It's the widget that's on one of the default home screens, and it seems to be triggered by removing it from the home screen without first setting the update frequency to "none".

Needless to say, when I got around to rooting my device, it was the first app to be frozen by Titanium Backup.

... Now running CM9, which is super fast and light. way better than stock (but I still miss the dialer codes you can use with the samsung dialer).

Hey guys, i'm not getting an ICS update OTA or through Kies. Originally this phone was bought through Telecom by the previous owner. I tried doing some custom stuff and soft bricked my phone. I got it repaired with vodafone 'cos thats who i use and they flashed their firmware on it. But when all this hoopla about the ics updates happened, no luck for me. Found out my CSC wasn't matching. Tried a CSC changer but it didn't come up with any options. So i just flashed the stock telecom firmware and got the PDA, phone code and CSC all matching but no updates through Kies or OTA.

What can I do?

Windows. I've been told to flash the latest Telecom ICS firmware instead anyway so I may try that. Unless someone can figure it out with my current firmware

well I'm less than happy with ICS... the battery issues seem to cycle around every week or so.... a few days with excellent performance, maybe 2-2.5 x the performance of gingerbread, and then a couple of days of atrocious usage... goes flat in a day with little usage, runs flat overnight, and then if attempted to charge via usb whilst running, it will literally cook and drain the battery. WTF!?!?

ave you cleaned the USB port it may be dirty or be damaged and shorting, failing that it may need to be taken back.

USB port is clean as a whistle... this is without a doubt a software issue... Factory reset has been performed since the ICS update... I'm just about at the point of rooting it and getting a good custom rom on it.. this is ridiculous

Just got my S2 back from the repair shop, nicely flashed back to 2.3.3. I'll be staying on this version for the forseeable future, at least until a 4.0.4 or higher is available from kies/telecom.

I don't understand how the current 4.0.3 got past testing... it's terrible. Anyways, I'm happy, even if it did mean i had to use an android 1.6 loaner for a week.

It would be good if kies would let you flash back to 2.3.3.....

Did you try to look at what applications you have running?

I've found that one of the task reminder apps keeps the CPU alive if a reminder is triggered and kills the battery, hence it has now been removed.

Also I've had occasions where after using the flash the back of the phone stays hot until I reboot.
