c.. It was well a planned move which they informed everyone of..

Interesting that they can plan and execute a cancellation very well but were inept in being able to plan and deliver a service they offered.

cafeg: Just reading the posts from the last couple of days and I can't see what the problem is here.

Telecom gave everyone plenty of notice that bigtime was finished and stated everywhere that if you didn't move BY the 15th August they would move you after that date ?

They didn't say anywhere you had till Oct to move and would leave you on bigtime until then..

They also said if you moved to PRO before that date you got $20 a month back for 3 months.

Yet everyone still complains when they get moved and some missed out on the $20 ?

I don't agree about bigtime stopping either but it has and like I said all telecom are doing is what they said they would do !

What people are annoyed about is being silently switched on an unknown date sometime after the 15th August, then finding out a couple of days later they are on adventure and the cap has been used and they are shaped to 64k.

I personally think it's quite poor customer service, surely as they do the cut over they could drop a simple email to account email address saying you've been changed so we could stop any downloads/uploads/online backup apps immediately.

Currently I'll be checking yourtelecom twice a day to see if I've been changed, kind of annoying.

I will probably give Slingshot a go.

Wow, I just happened to find out now that my plan's been silently switched back to Adventure.

In order to remotely stop my traffic I've had to kill the router's connection to the internet.

I don't think "at some point over a two month period you will find that your plan has been changed" is good enough.

Telecom is a communications company, it should do a better job of communicating.

Have heard repeatedly worldnet is terrible, everything is shaped and after you use a soft hidden cap of 700mb per day you get rate shaped right down.

has everyone actually been moved? or is it just a few people so far.

It's entirely possible their systems can only cope with migrating, say, 1000 people per day or something.

If they have 50,000 Big Time customers then that would take almost 2 months to complete the migration.

If it would take them 2 months to complete the migration why couldn't they:

A) Move people at the end of their billing month, or

B) Advise customers of the day at which their plan was going to be changed.

120,000? where did you hear that number from? that would be a large portion of all the internet customers in all of NZ if that was true

Given there's only ~1 mill households with broadband access in NZ, I would be surprised if 120,000 of them were all on bigtime.

(My data comes form Statistics NZ)

And not all those homes have a broadband connection either

According to the The Household Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Survey, of the 1.621 million households in NZ, 63% (1,023,000) had broadband access at home, (with a further 12% with dialup). (2009)
