Just received a letter confirmed from Telecom that the Bid Time is about to end.

They recommend me to change to a Pro Broadband which cost $79.99/month for 40GB which is $20more to add to the bill.

Will definitely changing to another internet provider now.

I'm surprised that you didn't expect this. The $2/GB thing should have given it away.

(However, I guess there was still a little hope...)

I was told these were based on your average usage, is yours around that mark?

Personally I was hoping that they would average our usage and give us a rounded plan choice.

Ie you use 213B a month on average and get to choose between a 200GB plan for $X or a 250GB plan for $Y etc.

Someone will be getting an earful from me if they don't...

I doubt they'll offer tailored plans (there'd be a uproar if they did that without allowing other customers to sign up for them, and it'd mean admitting that 40GB+overage isn't really enough anymore)

Not sure where you got your information from, but from what I read and was told, they would look at your usage and offer you the best plan based on your usage within their current plan offerings. There was no talk of customized plans or changing of plans.

I decided to jump first to the Telecom Pro.

Oh well, I haven't got their message yet, but if that's what's on offer then I'm going to check other provider's offers.

On the letter say:" Our recommendation for you , We've taken a look at your account, and based on your data usage on the past two months,we think our Pro Broadband plan will be best for you"

But since I signed up with big time my average usage is from 65GB to 200GB each month.

Telecom (branded under the plain Telecom brand) don't offer a DSL plan with more than 40GB.

I thought they were going to look at adjusting the plans - so not tailored, but didn't expect to maybe see a couple of news ones start being released, and maybe some higher capacity ones.

I go by my first comment in this thread:
The $2/GB change should have been a massive clue to the contrary.

I just got my letter today, and was also recomended to switch to the Pro Broadband plan, for an extra $20 a month.

I dont get how this is fair, as my family uses on average 60-150 GB a month its gonna be damn near impossible to stay within the 40 GB mark, without paying $2 more per GB.

Telecom need to fill in the niche in the market, and bring out some plans with 100GB, 200GB monthly allowance, This will solve the problem with the selected few using 500+GB on BigTime, while allowing families to not have to worry about paying extra for every GB used over 40GB.

First they take go large away charge us $10 more for big time, now they are trying to charge another extra $20 for a piddly 40gb. Im either going on a business plan (offerings are still very weak). Or switching Isp cant stand xtra / telecoms bollox anymore after being with them since '96.

Well at least Telecom tried, you show me the other ISPs that have introduced an "unlimited data" plan at an affordable price!

There were a few in the past (Slingshot had a 10Mbps/10Mbps WiMax plan for a few months before they stopped WiMax signups)
