The Melville exchange is the one just a bit back from the roundabout at Tomin Rd?

Im expecting im connected there, as thats significantly closer to us than Waterford Rd

Yerp thats the one - has 2x cell towers there so guess your off the exch then

I bought this router about a week ago, im starting to think I made the wrong choice.

Was tossing up between these

I had heard good things about the Asus, especially as I can put Tomato on it. Hadn't had any experience with netgear at all. Decided the Cisco one should be good, after all its Cisco.

I'm thinking I might try and take this one back.

You should, it all depends what feature-set you're wanting also. $125 for a excellent router (my one) is an excellent deal ;)

I've recently signed up for truenet as well, so that will be interesting for BigPipe.

Might try that router, with one of the modems I have laying about and see how much mileage that gives me.

I get the feeling I may need to requisition a cupboard at home for all the nwking gear.....

Just got transferred over on Wednesday. Thanks BigPipe.

Before the transferred my speed was around 10mbps down and 1mbps up.
After the transferred, it was 8.3 down and 0.85 up. Yesterday and today, it is 5.4down and 0.985up. Is there something wrong, wondering why the download speed is decreasing while the upload is increasing.

Sounds weird.

Just to clarify, are you talking about your modem sync speed here or speedtest.net (or similar) results?

Have you noticed any difference in browsing or video streaming quality?

If you post your modem stats that would be helpful.

You could also submit a support ticket on our website, if you haven't already, with as much detail as you can about modem details etc then we can take a look at your line and hopefully find a solution.
If it requires Chorus to do any jiggery pokery (thats the technical term

) at the exchange or cabinet then it may not happen until after the long weekend unfortunately.

Those are the modem sync speed, but speedtest.net also give similar results.

Thanks, I have submitted a report and got quite a speedy reply , pretty impressed :)

Unfortunately he said i have to wait up to 10 days after the connection before they can ask chorus to check it, as within the 10 days the speed can fluctuate quite a bit. Just check the the rate of download, it is definitely half of what it use to be on the first day. From 10Mbps to less than 5Mbps, quite a big fluctuation, maybe that is normal?

Wait what???? No, not right at all. That would stand for VDSL not ADSL (which you are clearly on)

It is adsl, i think it can go up to 20mbps depending on your line.

It is now back up to 10Mbps, thanks alot to BigPipe for getting that sorted. Liking the support and speed so far. Keep up the good work.

That Linksys X3500 is, by far, the biggest piece of sh1t around.
