Talkiet:I understand that, but Yahoo also has free (non-premium) accounts/email addresses. Why isn't it possible to move former customers to a free email account that has the same conditions as a free Yahoo account?sam1234:

The reason for this is that it's not just your email address... It's the entire Yahoo! suite you got as a Telecom customer including Flickr Pro, a security suite and a bunch of other stuff (including the email).
Telecom has to pay Yahoo for these on a per user basis, and given you're no longer a Telecom customer, it's not sensible to keep paying Yahoo! for your email/value added products...
I don't know the per user cost, but I hope this explains the reason that it's not as simple of just letting you continue to have a free email account.
