techonoob:

speedtest.net and the telecom speed tests do not reflect the actual speeds i am getting.
still getting 10k/s and it is now 2am.

Thats because your testing on a local server
and you download from international servers

Choose a location in America for a more accurate representation of your international speeds

Hey all... Well today is a very sad day indeed. I just called Telecom (once again),
and found out that all the other things that I was told over the past week have been
blatant LIES. There never WAS a problem, there never WAS an outage... This is Telecom
traffic management in full effect.
I was completely disgusted when I was told this by a New Zealand resident technical help
person that this was indeed the case.
This whole traffic management thing should be in place, there's no doubt about that, but
should it be so strict that I (and so many others) can not even download a file offpeak!!?
I'm constantly stuck 35-50KB/s twentyfour hours a day. The technical support person said
that I was the ONLY person he had ever heard of who was experiencing that, so (you guessed it)
I got blamed for their speed issues.

Absolutely pissed - this needs to be terminated asap.

Well matey, that's the way New Zealand's largest Teelcomunications company handles it's clients - SHAME ON THEM! I am ashamed to say that I am a customer of Telecom, and I've just been told (when I threatened to leave their services) that this now IS a temporary problem and will be fixed.
No matter who you speak to in this sham of a company, you'll always be told something different to keep you with them, that's the nature of this satanic, EVIL entity called Telecom.

My http downloads seem to have improved dramatically this morning. It is now back up to acceptable speeds for me. How long this lasts, who knows. RS still capped at 100k but I don't mind waiting for those sorts of downloads. I just want http running fast enough, and it seems to be this morning.
