Thanks timtim, I too had planned to go with the same plan, but the rumors of unlimited plan started n now I am waiting for it.

BTW, what accelerator is that? might wanna try it

Yes,I was thinking that too but the unlimited plan is quite expensive for me.It's cost nearly $80.I'm not downloading 24/7 so this plan best suit me.And yes the accelerator is JDownloader. It's free and very easy to use.You can just copy a link folder and it will do the rest.

At Telecom they can say what they want and how much they like but for them the customer is just not important. The way they act is really like a monopolist and in fact they are. All ISP's have to go through a Telecom subsidiary to get most, if not all, of their international data. so Telecom's sub dictates the prices of USD.28 and Telecom sets it for all on USD2 per GB for the residential user.

When you look at this price level it is way out of line with the rest of the world where unlimited/fair user policy is pretty much standard. and yes, those ISP's have the technology in place for controlling excessive suers. Only Telecom claims they cannot do that. How difficult can it be to do a quarry once a day on the silly users? Too much for Telecom as they want to suck the juice out of their so terribly hated clients. As long as you pay a hefty sub per month and not use it all. they will be your best friend, after that they rather see the back of you.

It's sad to hear you feel this way. As someone that works for Telecom, let me assure you that the people there do try to do the best things for customers. We also need obviously to make a profit to keep the shareholders happy.

I don't really know why people are still complaining though... Consider the following.

- Any Big Time customer on a contract has had their contract nulled so they can leave at anytime with no penalty.
- Slingshot and Worldnet both now have flat rate plans. Why not join up there and let your wallet do the talking if Telecom no longer have a plan suitable for your needs?

Cheers  - N

Most recent complains are about the lack of an email or communcation to the account holder at the time each individual account defaulted back to adventure.

Surely a simple email to the account email address saying you've been changed as at now could have been done.

I think those are fairly valid complaints.

The reason we're unhappy is that the letter says "by Oct 8". If it was intended that we'd be moved ASAP after the date, then it would have been nice to say something very similar to "we will begin migrating users to Adventure on with no further warning"

Without that, I'd expect (as I personally did until reading about people being moved) to be moved at the end of the first billing cycle that ended after the 13th.

Talkiet: - Any Big Time customer on a contract has had their contract nulled so they can leave at anytime with no penalty.

So, just to confirm, if I stay on Adventure for a month I won't be charged should I leave in September?

(I ask because I've been given mixed messages regarding this)

Just wake up and do a little speed test on Slingshot for Free-Peak period. The speed is at dial up speed 64KB/s with Megaupload Premium account...Now I understand when people say"you get what you pay for"

Sorry, you're wrong by almost an order of magnitude.

Go away and learn about the difference between Kilobits and Kilobytes.

The screenshot you pasted showed performance approximately ten times faster than dialup.

It's frustrating for people to complain about "Dial Up Speeds" whenever something is slower than they would like, when in fact it's nowhere near dialup speeds.

Regards - N

Sad story indeed. It is definitely very slow - expecially considering you are downloading on a "premium" account!!!

Can you try using different download accelerator ? What about torrents. May be you can try other sources, - just que them up from random places and sleep off. Keep alarm for 3am and see how its going.

Cuz on Big time off peak , I could get something like 100-400kbps at times........!!

Would like to listen what people tell about the unlimited plan........

Maybe look at the screen shot, it shows speeds of less than 10kB/s. So no more than 80kbs.

I would like to point out that is is roughly 10KB/s per file, which means that Talkiet is correct

As pointed out already, but just to make it even clearer with the screenshot about...

Connection speeds are measured in Kbps (kilobits per second), while download speeds are measured in KB/s (kilobytes per second). One byte = eight bits, so 64 KB/s would be about 512 Kbps, plus overhead... Which in total is a lot more than "dial up".

Or try Wolfram Alpha: "64KB/s in kilobits"

Thanks, I have learned it now.So the max dial up speed is about 56Kb/s (kilobits per second)And my broadband speed download at Peak-time is 64kB/s (kilobytes per second) which is 10times faster than dial up.
