corksta: Don't think this has been covered yet, but if you opt for a shared plan and purchase texts and data are they also shared? For example if my fiance and I shared a plan and wanted the 1500 text add-on would that be shared or would we have to buy one add-on per phone?

Only voice minutes are shared.

Wow, seriously Telecom that is pretty unattractive. A quick glance through the tables tells me that my current anytime 300 plan and $10 texts is better than anything telecom has on offer with this new network. Being that I only call after hours on my ccell and text, I'm not impressed.
comparable new plan is the sam eprice plus extra dollars for the minutes over the 20 or 40 I currently get.

I for one am def. staying on the CDMA till my contract finishes in a cupl of months and then waiting for 2 degrees offers. Im guessing their prepaid may have better rates than those in the XT launch.

Does anyone know what the price of a text message cost for prepaid? The TXT600 seems nice, but that only seems to be part of a sign-up plan.

Basekid: I really hope they have $10 text. I can't get normal vodafone reception where I am (North East Valley in Dunedin), so Telecom is my only option.

They have $12 TXT, which is 20% more SMS for 20% more $. So what's the problem?

I think he is meaning Telecom Boost Txt (aka Text 2000)

I suspect most people that use upwards of 1000 texts a month would be better served staying where they are anyway. Odds are they don't need the bandwidth, and by the time they turn the CDMA network off, the prices should be significantly better (one would hope).

Hopefully push eMail becomes more prevalent so I can largely obsolete the use of SMS/MMS.

Other then the data charges, I think the plans seem fairly reasonable. Data rates about 20% higher than I'd have hoped for.

you can have any of the text plans on pre paid. they work as a cap...you pay up to the cap then get the rest free.

It was never about calling/texting prices, it was always going to be about the mobile data speeds/quality/hopefully prices, though a let down there for some on the cost of data.

Do Telecom have the $10 and double your data thing on their new data plans?

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Im aware of that, but for many users who dont use the data and prolly never will, the additional costs associated with these new plans is appalling. For me the cost of any plan, plus text costs plus the data charges are significantly bigger than  what I currently pay, in the order of $100 or so a month to get teh same level of service as i currently receive.

Either the telcos make a huge loss with existing free minute plans, or theyre going to make a large profit with the anytime call rates.

just my lil rant :-)

Im quite happy. Looking at our corporate plan, the shared option is gonna work out way better for out voice and data bills. One of my users has 3 data devices!.

I am looking forward to improved speeds, better handsets, video calling, GPS in a handset (other than an S40 or WM device), SIM convenience, 1500 any network texts and whatever other benefits I can find.

I actually cant find a single down point for me, considering we will save money by moving to one of these plans.

Then why did you get your hopes up?

Then those users shouldn't switch networks.

$12 TXT does not seem to be for prepaid. But If I am wrong, than I am a happy camper.

I can see some benefits for corporate users, but for individuals hmm ...

I wasnt expecting the earth but my god those plans are poor.

Im currently on You Choose 60 with 600 texts and free best mate for $40 a month. The equivalent at Telecom is $48.

I was hoping to use the 'share' option but to have to go to 250 mins before you can start sharing is laughable.

What a shame.
