radionut: I expressed surprise that there was any question of purchase date for such a recently released phone, but there was no response.

I await either a call, or my phone returning some time.
As I would... If the phone or item is only a month or so old, why bother asking for evidence of age?

Anyway, I suggest creating another thread just to record problems with stores, since this one (the Nokia 6255 problem list) seems to be solved (or at least the biggest problem).

Almost (but not quite) officially, I got this....

The latest software version for Nokia 6255 should be VN100V1700.NEP. To find out if this is the software on a 6255 dial in [code deleted] then scroll down to SW version then push ok.

The software that has been giving the problems is VN100V1000.NEP if a client has this version software then we have to send the phone off to mobilefone repair.

Why are you missing your "photos etc" when the phone has removable memory??

this nokia doesn't support folders in the card, so it's annoying to find stuff on there.

What about putting the card in a card reader (or camera or printer) and using your desktop OS to create folders?

My bad I should have backup photos and movies to the mmc card. So I expect I have to send it back and get them to do the upgrade correctly this time!!!
Does the Nokia software do a FULL backup? I see there is an option but have never used it? (Yes I have the correct usb cable)

Make sure the dealer and the repair agent are aware that it came back with the upgrade.

That is interesting, we have a customer who has had his 6255 sent away twice now for the powering off and it still continues. He is now getting a new handset via the esculations process. I wonder if some of the upgrades are failing and dropping back to the original version or if one of the MFR techs needs a little more training.....Ill be interested to check the software version when we get his phone back.

You can try, but dont hold out much hope.

I was told by a usually very reliable source that this would happen, but I know of 8 phones that it hasnt happened for.

Taniwha - You can create folders on the card from the phone. I have made quite a few for organising music, images etc.

To check the software version just input *#837# (*#ver#)

Since i got my phone back nearly 2 weeks ago its has behaved just perfectly. I also would suggest you dont send your card away with the phone.

PC Suite will back up back most thing off the phone, contacts, gallery etc But not messages, profiles or java. I suggest using the latest version of Oxygen Phone Manager, it copies everything just fine!

brad5: MFR have my phone so i can't check right now - but take a photo, and then try to move it into a folder on your MMC card. you can't. it's in the root folder or not at all.

sure, you can move stuff into the folders using your PDA or PC, but you can't move it there using the phone.

I have always been able to move to card etc.

The card should be the first item in the gallery.

Add a folder to the card by highlighting card>options>add folder then give it a name e.g images

To move a file to card
Example: an image in the galley/images folder.
Go to gallery>images select image001.jpg etc. > options>move>highlight card then press right which take you into the root of the card>highlight images folder and select move to.

Hope this helps:-)
