I think you missed jbard's sarcasm. You should comment on Lykho's post instead.

if on May 1st I change to the current 30GB plan and save $20, I'll get 60GB, right?

No. If you are referring to Total Home Lite ($85), this plan was 10GB and as account cycles rolled over for the month of April they wen't to 30GB.

Check http://www.telecom.co.nz/moredata

so, if "packages will double throughout April and May 2012", why will I be paying the same amount over the same period for 50% less product than other customers who also had a billing rollover in April or May?

It's from 1st May

so it's wrong to say it's from the first May billing date? -- all people, no matter when billed will log-on to see an incrased allowance as of May 1st? (e.g., so, for example, if someone's billing rolls over on May 2, they'll have 24 hours to use or have squandered the additional doubling of gigs that month?

unless he considers all annoying business decisions crimes, I don't think he should bother proposing such nonsense to me.

I'm not going to be drawn into this debate with you. Total Home Lite customers as per the Telecom Website wen't from 10GB to 30GB during April, other Total Home Packages are doubling as per the Website and the the post above during May.

He was using SARCASM and used it as a joke, so read again.

As for "annoying business decisions" it was clarified that changes will done during the month, when the customer's cycle restarts. Making a pro-rata change for something that would only happen in one month over the life of an account would be a dumb business decision - confusing for customers, costly to implement, hard to test, with plenty of chances of things going wrong and customers complaining.

They took the right approach. Some won't like it, but it's the safest.

so, it's not effective as of May 1st, it's only available as of May 1st, and to get it right from May 1st a current customer has to change their account on May 1st? is that correct?

Your data will increase when your next billing cycle starts

I can't guarantee this will work but you can try changing your plan now, and then on the 1st of May, change back to your current plan.  This should give you the new data allowance at the beginning of the month, instead of waiting until your cycle changes

If you do this and change up to the 80gb plan, you will have 80gb to use until the 2nd of May when your plan changes :)

is that how it works? I can't recall or find the specifics ('you may only change your plan once a [something]') is it once a month, not per billing/30 days/etc.?

nullmee:

you're saying if I change to the $125 80GB plan, say, on the 28th April and only until to May 2, I could use all 80GB but only pay 1/6th of that monthly (30 day billing period) cost, then go back/up to the $105 120GB plan and have all 120GB to use in May?

can anyone from Telecom confirm this -- is this possibly the reason for the 'once per [something]' plan change restriction?

not yet I'm not.
I might be better off seeing if Slingshot has adequate service on their unlimited plan for a month while I wait. ...if I actually had any need for this much bandwidth I'd consider it.
