I put it in..... I took it out..... Still have some old code kicking around for the subscriber management.

Push to Talk was running on the CDMA network in early 2005, but it didn't last long.

Vodafone had two PTT / POC platforms first was Nokia then a motorola, RIP

There was also a number of free PTT servers in Europe that were accessible if you signed up for them and had a phone (such as Nokia) that supported it. I remember trialling this with johnr long after Vodafone had pulled the pin, much to the amusement of other VF staff who couldn't understand how it still worked when the box had been unplugged!

On CDMA it was $10 for "unlimited" use (Although this was introductory, it never changed while the service was active), not sure why it wasn't more successful. I used it frequently, as did my group of friends, and we often had group chats using it.

They sure have. Anyone on any for of post pay will have received their two monthly letter in the mail advising them of this and people on prepay should be getting the cut off message when ever they maker a call..

Is this cut off message played for all prepay users? How long has the message been playing for? What does it say?

You would think telecom would also have sent a mass text to all those people too

Out of those 300,000 people still on CDMA I wonder how many are prepay and how many are post pay and what their reasons for staying on CDMA are, coverage? not enough cash to buy a new phone? don't understand what CDMA shut off means?

I suspect they are glovebox users. People might have an old CDMA phone thrown in the glovebox of their car with a few dollars stored on prepay for emergency use (assuming they forgot to bring their "real" phone). If that's the case, the imminent closure of CDMA means little to them. When it closes, they'll toss the phone out.

I always thought Push 2 Talk was a rather niche service of limited appeal - plus you could only use it on a few handsets anyway, and it didn't work between networks either.

Made some calls on mine tonight. No warning of shutoff, just that I have less than $10 on it.

Yes to mesage and Yes to text for onebill users. dunno about prepaid

Message is bloody annoying when trying to make a call

Im not getting the message on either of my prepaids. If I was living in a cave I would have no idea that I only had about 6 weeks left on the phone.

edit: thought it might be the less than $10 message being played instead so called a 0800 which doesnt tell me that - no message about shutdown there either.
