I called and was told only open term or the $159 smartphone plan:

Apologies. I took it that as the boost options displayed on both sets of plans that they applied to both sets.

I got my info from a store rep as well, so I'd say the call centre rep might not have read the update

This has now been changed and all smartphone plans open and 12/24 month plans also.
Ie you can now pay $49 and get 150/NS/1.5GB open term (open smartphone $29 + $20 data boost)

Hasn't been changed for my plan. I'm still unable to buy any data boosts. I'm currently on a $100/month plan and half way through my 12 month contract.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

@openmedia: You need to be on the newer Smartphone plans to be eligible to purchase a $20 1GB Data Boost. The grandfathered Smartphone $100 plan is not eligible.

$20 1GB Data Boost is available across all of the latest/current Open/12/24 Plans, however website has not been updated to reflect this...
