Wow, Doesnt seem very good value when you do the maths...

2 degrees offer 12gb valid for 6 months (= 2gb per month for $16.50) as a prepaid option, so easy to hide from the GF and not locked in for 2 years.

The $63.50 your saving a month would pretty quickly add up to the cost of your tablet, Im sure buying one at DSE on interest free would be around that cost.

63.50 x 13 months = $825 which would buy you the 3g ipad including the booking fee, then the savings you get vs rest of the 2 year telecom deal would be 63.5 x 11 months = $698 !!!!

This would only work of course in the broadband zone.

My opinions are purely my own and are not at all those of my employer 2degrees.

Oh dear... If you're going to spruik your own wares and claim better value than others, you should DEFINITELY identify yourself as an employee of the company you're promoting.

At least you acknowledged that the 2D 12G plan (BTW I like that as a concept) only works in your broadband zones.

You did however leave out that unless the user ALSO BUYS a 3G national data pack, and they venture outside your specific zones, they will be charged at 50C/MB, which, when you do that math, is $500/GB.

Cheers - N

I do have it in my signature but that doesn't show until I hit 200+ posts. I will find somewhere to post who I am.

And yes good point about the national data pack for when the OP is out of zone.

Heh, who can tell with all this 'new math' going on... I agree, back in my day, it would have been $512, but today, with base 10 being more attractive than powers of 2, I'm just not sure anymore.

Cheers - N

Yep.. we are all living in hell now where we get randomly trolled by product managers from the competition pretending to be concerned fellow geekzone members....

I have a feeling this is going to be a long afterlife.

I disagree, he wasn't upfront, his information was correct, but he didn't say he had a vested interest in recommending it as a solution.

It was in my signature but being the newbie that I am on here I didn't realize it wouldn't come up. As you can see I am now a "trusted" member and it should show up below this post...

Was not trying to mislead or  push any services, just another option for the OP.

Thanks for the warm welcome from some members and not so warm welcome from the other members....

Welcome. Good to see 2 degrees making a positive impact and seeing lower pricing in the mobile space  and plenty of innovation since 2D launched.

myopinion: I purchased a 3G iPad 1 a couple of years ago and hardly ever used the 3G part of it. I would recommend the WiFi version to anyone with a home WiFi network. You probably wont use the 3G as much as you would think, unless you travel a lot. If you've got a smartphone just tether to that when out.

the main reason I want the 3G is for the GPS.

Paul I need to keep the 3G secret from the GF and she pays the Telecom bill!

What's 3G got to do with GPS? GPS runs to satellites not to cell towers. My wifi tab runs GPS perfectly well. So does my car nav system.

Its more for navigation as the maps are not stored offline. A data connection is needed to load the map data and provide a route. GPS navigations have stored offline map data, so 3g or wifi is not needed.
