stone2: Sorry, I meant to say that after checking again with telecom they said it was on and they would turn it off.
I tested speed after they confirmed they had finally turned it off.
Still, I might email them just to make sure.
Cheers

I hope they didn't say they were turning it off on the spot for you. Generally, in order to turn interleaving off, the ISP has to send a request to Chorus. Due to Chorus work hours over the weekend the interleaving request may not have even started to be processed until this morning.

The views expressed by me are not necessarily those of my employer Chorus NZ Ltd

If you email me "pl at telecom.co.nz" your home line number I can run a line test for you and see what the story is.

As everyone else has already said, time to get a new modem and the new Technicolour 582N's Telecom supply are pretty good, as are the TP-Links.

But sometimes the older routers just have a hiccup after getting old and it could have been just coincidence that it all happened around the plan change time.

That's pretty much what happened. As I was on the phone they said interleaving was on and 2mins later they said it was off.
Funny thing tho, as soon as they said it was turned off my ping on speedtest.net went form 84 to 45, but as I wrote earlier it was around 15ms ping before I changed plans.
Cheers

I can check if you're interleaved or non-interleaved (fast)

Offer stands if you wanted to email / pm me for further details about your line.

PM on Geekzone you hit the EMail Button...

But I have got your email, and replied back to you.

Damm telling people they need to get a Master Filter is starting to get boring.

DELT estimated distance     120 m
Attenuation [dB]                7
Actual bitrate [kb/s]           7,544
Attainable bitrate [kb/s]     17,088

Sounds like another one for Coffeebaron.

Can anyone post some really straight forward instructions on how i can wire up the master filter to my current box using for reference my pics. I just need some simple instructions like which wires on the master filter go to which wires in the box and which wires go to the plug for the modem.
Thanks in advance.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

You will also need the gel joiners..

http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/cables-adaptors/networking/auction-558349611.htm

Gives you the joiners you want plus some instructions on how to do it.

If you break it.. then you may make Chorus & Telecom very unhappy so don't blame me.

But you should start with the gel caps, find the other end of the white cable going into your house, and decide if that's the place where you want the master filter to go.

Then wire up the cables according to the colour specifications on the side of the master filter box using the gel-caps to seal the wires.

Personally I'm not so fond of having the master filter outside.. but hey that's just me I prefer to put it inside in a box next to your DSL jackpoint.

Really if you're not confident doing it yourself you shouldn't do it.... Pay Fraser aka Coffeebaron and he will do a good job, otherwise you may just make things worse.

Thanks plambrechtsen
I will give it a go and see what happens.
Did you get my email with those few questions I asked?
Cheers

Hi, the approved filters are designed to go in the ETP, they are also rated for full submersion in pressurised water, so getting wet (or being in this type of setting) is not a problem, the use of scotch locs means low levels of moisture will not cause performance issues. The filters have notched shoulders that fit between the screw pillars of the ETP.

The hardest part for you is going to be to identify where the indoor cable turns up and if you need to jumper it through one or more phone sockets on the way how to identify which cable is which. A cabler will have test gear to quickly do this, othewise you could waste a fair bit of time.

Pretty much... Today I did a lookup on a parents line.  They have a attainable rate of 32kb, and an actual rate of 256kb..Attenuation [dB] 63.5.... does that even count as boradband?

The Orange/white pair (incoming line) on the filter will connect to the black / yellow incoming pair.

The blue/white pair (voice) will connect to the red / white pair on your internal wiring.

The green/white pair (xDSL) on the filter then connects to your new master jackpoint.

Are you going to run a new cable from the ETP (as pictured) to your new master jack, or use some of the existing spare wires?
