Fair enough... :) I'll ask what the story is.

None of the backend billing or ways in which the data usage is metered.  So the plan you are on is still the same.  But interesting how the 500 vs 512GB is shown.  Find out the story on that.

I managed to figure the URL which allows the old credentials (for now) to log in to broadband usage.

https://www.telecom.co.nz/jetstreamum/xtraSum (which redirects)

Presumably that will be deprecated at some stage but I managed to solve the immediate problem. Cheers for your offer to help, I'll likely call the helpdesk sometime when I have the capacity.

Except that you cant, or I wouldn't be here in the first place, i'd be happily using the new system. I dont 'miss the old login form', I'm not wanting to log in with a treasured username instead of an email address, and I'm not just complaining for the sake of complaining here, the new portal is seriously borked. It refuses to accept my account number and from what I've seen and heard once you log in if you can, then the UI is very confusing.

Cheers for the communications from yourselves, pity the management couldn't see the need to do so to each and every one of their customers.


If you message me your home line number and your account number is I can investigate.

So far however there have been well into 5 figures of folks login and get themselves successfully setup in the last few days and the call queues are only slightly above BAU levels.  So it seems to be working without serious complaints for the vast majority of folks.

My only gripe was that I had to use a *less* secure password for the new account as it wouldn't accept special characters! Undecided

I'd be mildly curious to know how many people actually click through to read the terms and conditions. Considering we're not compelled to read them, and that most people fall asleep after the first sentence.

Someone there must be able to check the web stats are see how many folks went through the sign up process, and what percentage of them clicked the t&c link before they clicked "I have read the t&c".

Any bets on what the percentage might be? I'd reckon well under 50%.

Yes that's gonna be gone very soon as people move across to My Telecom.

I was really hoping the new "My Telecom" would include mobile prepay users but it appears not. Are there any plans to add this?

Got a how to ? It is asking me to change all my credentials to migrate. Cannot see anything related to retain existing credentials ? Or am I reading that wrong ?

Using existing credentials didn't work for me, you have to register and after entering your phone and account number it says something along the lines of migrating from your telecom blah balh

I LOVE the way you can now differentiate unbilled calls made from different phone numbers. I have 4 phone numbers on my account and now I have a so much easier way of knowing which numbers are generating which charges.

Good grief, talk about problems of first worlders! I really don't see what all the fuss is about- for me I just used my existing username and password and it told me about the changes and that I'd now be using an e-mail address. Easy. Looks cleaner and more organised too- is online credit card payments coming anytime soon for postpaid accounts?

I found out it was the way it was being rendered in the old YourTelecom usage portal.  The back end billing system hasn't changed so you are still being billed and will be throttled if you go over 500GB (but what the heck are you streaming / downloading if you manage to chew through that much Sealed) if that is the plan you are on.  Otherwise you get charged overage based on your plan.

Telecom doesn't (and hasn't ever) sold 512GB plans.  Only 500GB plans.

So the MyTelecom portal is correctly rendering the usage for the 500GB plan.
