Jizah:
I've been told I can pay to dig a trench, and pay the ~$120 on top to get the cables laid. Happy to pay the $120 but I don't want to pay for a trench as I am only here until January.
A technician mentioned that I can use the tcl cabling as a draw wire to pull the telecom cables through, but he wasn't allowed to do it himself. Does this sound viable?
Final option is to go with tcl/vodafone. But I'd have to pay a $149 install fee on top of a $199 early termination fee for Telecom.
Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD. https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Just been re-reading this post and a couple of questions spring to mind.
1. You say you are only in the property till the end of January. Where are going after that? To another location in Wellington/ChCh (because you mention there is TCL/VF wiring already there) or outside that area?
2. If to a TCL area, then if you sign up for TCL/VF services and pay $149, when you move to another property and keep your TCL/VF account, I am not sure they will charge you another installation fee.You say you happy to pay $120 for TNZ installation so $149 isn't much more.
3. What is the early termination fee for Telecom? Are you moving from a location now that is Telecom and you need to disconnect that account to sign up for TCL/VF?
chevrolux: The landlord is going to have a mere when UFB comes along then....
I really can't believe someone can be so short sighted and just flat out stupid. For the sake of only $100-odd dollars (plus trenching) the property can be connected.
