joe5600: i was just thinking in my case my mum got a lost or stolen phone upgrade from her nokia 6225 to a sanyo 5600 this was done at a telecom dealer ship they told us that telecom would lock the esn down and it could never be reconnected again. we left the nokia for couple of months then i called telecom and got it reconnected on pre pay then sold it.
so i think it can be done.
also i found a phone once that had been reported stolen so i used the contacts in the phones directory to obtain information about the owner called up said i was the owner and that i had forgoten the password telecom asked me some other Questions and i was able to get the mobile reconnected
