In my case all it did was allowed me to select 'gsm/wcdma/LTE auto' in place of 'gsm/WCDMA auto'. On reboot of the phone it reverted to gsm/WCDMA auto. Your results may vary. Do a Geekzone search on *#*#4636#*#* it should take right to the discussion.

You can download the Telecom variant of the firmware from samfirmware.com and flash it with Odin. As long as it is in fact an N9005 then that should sort you out. As it's a genuine firmware it shouldn't even trip the Knox counter if that's a thing you care about (I didn't).

They have the latest MJ7 firmware which was only released late last week.

It's something like a 1.5GB download.

I switched to Vodafone and it connected straight up to 4G. I would've preferred to stay put so if I'd read this sooner I probably would've given it a go.

*#*#4636#*#* doesn't seem to work on the Galaxy Note 3, seems it's been disabled.
