If he's sending from an XTRA broadband connection, he should be able to use smtp.xtra.co.nz using standard port 25 amd no authentication. It's not ideal, but should work. A high percentage of XTRA users still use those settings, and as long as you don't roam to another ISP's internet connection, you can use this smtp server for almost any email address.

Tivo upgrades to operate with the new OzTivo EPG, support and service. Over 400 performed here so far. See: www.hillcrest.net.nz

I will try that tonight for him. This is his desktop machine so there should be no issue with that.

Oblivian: Indeed. Is that URL the URL, or is it a nasty phishing one :)

ANZ phishing is at the top of the list at present, I get a couple a day binned.

Also check thttps://api.login.yahoo.com/login/history and it will tell them if theres been some sus things happening. The error itself is widely known in yahoo help and history of people asking about it back to 2009. So it does look like one of their security measures when they shut down spammers or too many messages going out etc

No the link is genuine. One of the first thing I checked. I also get those messages each day. One one occasion after looking at the mail headers and seeing the SMTP server was .se I called ANZ. They said to forward the message to emailalert@anz.com which I did with the headers I got. The message was blocked by their spam filters(!) after which I just gave up.

No suspicious activity on https://api.login.yahoo.com/login/history

It probably doesn't matter if it is a legit link or not, their system possible see the anz.com link and it is falgged as a possible phishing email, if that is indeed how their systems work. They need someone to manually fix it if that is the case.
