Dual carrier. Means there is twice the frequency range for mobile. In some sites there are 3x850mhz carrier's and 2 or 3x2100mhz carrier's.

Dual carrier. Basically you can get 21mbps per carrier, so by bonding two carriers you have a maximum theoretical data download rate of 42 Mbps.

andrewNZ: In the case of south dunedin, I'm fairly convinced its congestion.

I don't believe I should have to navigate their their awful phone system and try to report something they should already be aware of. If their towers cant say "hey guys, im at 200% capacity again", then their system is... inadequate.

I look forward to you building your own network and seeing how easy it is to monitor congestion and cellsite performance.

I highly recommend to everyone ever having a congestion issue to log a coverage fault via 0800 800 163 and make sure that they drop a pin on the exact location to ensure the coverage team know where people are having issues. It also helps if many different customers all log faults so it's a consistent issue impacting multiple handsets and customers.

I really want to do this but i wish there was a faster way to do it. Talking to the prepaid helpdesk is nowhere near as nice as talking to telecoms other help desks or higher level support. If i knew reporting a coverage issue or fault took a couple of minutes tops, id do it more than in the times when i know i have at least 15 minutes spare.

I was only referring to PL's mention of 'coverage fault' so i assume you're referring to him.

A precise location of the very average mobile data service on Telecom.

4 or 5 cell sectors could serve that one location

19 inside the border on the map according to Cell Site Map.

But for whatever reason there are large parts of the city that during the day simply don't have usable mobile data.

I used to be pretty critical of the awful VF coverage around here, but I grabbed a SIM for my One the other day and the difference was rather noticeable. Also having 4G is nice.

The worst problems are in the central city and Sth Dunedin. All flat there.

maybe if they raised the price to $20 all the students would go to 2d and VF and we'd be ok again?

I'm switching to Vodafone on Monday, so tired of having worse than dial up speeds around the city.

The city gets treated like it doesn't exist, you just have to look at places that have 4G before we do. Then there is the matter of the DC coverage, I would have to suspect the person who decided to cover that part of the city must have been high on the day.

I'm not going to be bothered calling up and enduring their long wait times to report ongoing issues they should be aware of.
