Just realised I have lost mobile data in Dunedin. Not sure why. Was working this morning until recently.

Restarting phone no luck.

Not sure where you are, but I often have serious data issues in and around South Dunedin anytime from 10:30 - 2:00. Pretty sure it's just far too much demand.

Hamilton here. Got it to connect for 30s then it dropped again.

But for weeks now i've had intermittent data issues, sometimes the data sesion won't come up, other times its there but theres no usable connection over it. This is ignoring the occasional performance issues in some places at certain times, it just straight up won't work.

No mobile data in downtown New Plymouth either. Telecom reporting an issue with pre-pay account and top-up, but not that and in any case this phone is on account.

This. It is beyond annoying, anywhere between Portsmouth Dr and King Edward St there is no mobile data during the day. There is also no DC coverage anywhere in Dunedin except for a few areas where nobody lives or works.

Telecoms service quality in Dunedin has gotten consistently worse over the past year to the point that I will be switching to 2D or VF when my next billing cycle is over.

I already switched to 2D because of these data issues, Still have a company phone on telecom but my 2D has come out in more than one occasion to save the day when telecom has failed
That and also the constant dropped calls we all keep getting on telecom that is trying to get sorted

I have had a friend in wellington last week tell me their data couldn't connect either. I believe its a network wide issue, but i'm not sure if its actually going to be addressed any time soon...   As much as i'd love to call up and log a complaint each time, going through the whole turning phone off and on again, taking out and putting back in SIM, checking APNs and all the usual troubleshooting steps is a chore, and not really how i like to spend my lunch break. When I have had time i've called up but it ends up being much longer than i'd like just to report an issue. These steps are there for obvious reasons i know, and i know they fix lots of issues.

But I'd like to just be able to report a network fault happening at a certain location, at a certain time, with a certain service, and leave it at that. I don't need to resolved on the spot, i just want to provide feedback that i'm getting issues. Enough logged faults by people and it might get investigated.
I have a feeling unless it stops working entirely for an extended period of time, people just accept these sorts of random cut outs, and it just fuels the fire a bit more each time it happens, until it finally blows up and they decide to swap network.

In the case of south dunedin, I'm fairly convinced its congestion.

I don't believe I should have to navigate their their awful phone system and try to report something they should already be aware of. If their towers cant say "hey guys, im at 200% capacity again", then their system is... inadequate.

Just wait till all the students are back, if you think it's bad now it's only going to get much worse.

There is another topic about the issues in North Dunedin and 3g, which IIRC the official response was 'there is no issue', so don't expect anything different here.

If you are correct about congestion it would seem like Telecoms load testing/capacity planing was done while students weren't around and they significantly underestimated what is required.

Yup anticipating snail speeds in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately I work in a concrete building and telecom seems to have the best coverage

I look forward to you building your own network and seeing how easy it is to monitor congestion and cellsite performance.

I highly recommend to everyone ever having a congestion issue to log a coverage fault via 0800 800 163 and make sure that they drop a pin on the exact location to ensure the coverage team know where people are having issues. It also helps if many different customers all log faults so it's a consistent issue impacting multiple handsets and customers.
