On the information you were given I think you had every right to have a moan.

Besides, Chevolux's reply gave me a good laugh.

Yeah me too  - I just wish I could have provided more dragons in the story. I did show my teeth and breath fire during my initial call to telecom if that counts.

chevrolux: cool story bro... needs more dragons.

If internet speed isn't the issue why even upgrade. Just re-sign your ADSL contract and be done with it.

This isn't a soap opera it is a tech forum. No room for whingers.

WTF is this about! Someone need to start taking there meds again and chill out!

Thanks to OP i know that you don't get a free upgrade from ADSL to Fiber if your a telecom customer!!

Cheers,

Balm its gone!

Well done in not reading the thread. Telecom confirmed there was no charge for moving to fibre. There is only a fee for going to VDSL.

Hi, not wanting to sway the thread, we were rung by Telecom today (our current ISP) asking if we were happy with our BB, and I said yes but what to change to VDSL2, was told $10/month, then it got more complex and they wanted several hundreds for a modem and filter, in the end I hung up, the CSR just got too painful. If I can stay with Telecom and supply my own modem and not pay for a visit to install a filter I would be in. But at the current state its not going to happen. Oh and at 500m of actual cable from Hataitai exchange VDSL should work well for me.

I was from UK then moved to AKL then to Kapiti, now back in AKL.

Chevrolux and waikariboy stop the arguing lets all group hug and sing kumbaya :D

Cyril7 - threads have a nature of being swayed which is fine. My only regret with going to fibre is (I guess) my internet usage will be metered now. I had ADSL2 and a Tivo and Telecom were unable to meter my usage so although I had 120GB, I never knew how little or how much of it I used. I guessI will have to keep an eye on it now.

I think you'll find that we still unmeter your usage Karl. :)
For now ....

Ooh so that 'feature' of having a TiVo persists when one changes from ADSL to Fibre?

Just be aware that it is not a permanent feature.  We will be in touch with those impacted before we intend metering those customers.
