WyleECoyoteNZ: ... PC gone mad.

I find your statement offensive.  It would be preferable to use the term "non neurotypical".

We'll I've just lost my toucan - I've been avoiding tumblr for that very reason but alas it is gone.

In all seriousness though - who are these whiners, the same ones that whined about the 'bugger' ads years ago? I've got a good idea - lets give these folks something productive to do in their life so that they're not trying to fill up their spare time with whining.

one of the purposes of advertising is to get people talking about it.  Clearly the Giganaire ads are working

Personally I think they are quite amusing

Is TiVo like Jetstar? As in the only people that complain about it aren't the ones that use it?

Yes, it is a very good PVR

Reminds me of the Toyota (?) "bugger" ad a few years ago. Something like six people complained so the ad got removed. Guess the 4 000 000 others who didn't complain don't count?

I think it is a fantastic PVR with the best remote control I've ever used.  It makes all of the DishTV and similar devices I have seen so far look rather amateurish IMHO.  Highly mature and functional platform.  Went and bought a second one off TM.  Upgraded the hard drive.  :)

Just wish that getting recordings off them was cheaper (the software is a little pricey), and that you could stream the content to other devices in the home like I hear some of the newer Panasonic PVRs can.

I feel the same, I would really miss my TiVo. I doubt if Dan can say anything that would be commercially sensitive info

Yep, so much better than most <$600 DVR's at the time, especially considering the price was $199.

Is 'PC gone mad' the most over used term of the 2010's?

I think swag, selfie and yolo would edge that out unfortunately.

Tend to agree with you here - it's just a trite line that's easy to trot out in all manner of situations. The term 'PC' has been popular for the last couple of decades, but often it's lazy short-hand for 'I don't agree with this'.
