I thought this was a thread about Bigpipe's good news? BTW 2Talk works well for this residential customer (on Bigpipe).

Back on subject. Thanks Bigpipe ........... very pleased with the service I have received to date.

Someone asked for advice on a phone provider, one recommendation was made, another was made to counter it. Seems appropriate to me.

I wouldn't be keen to do it unless unavoidable, but then I am not the biggest fan of VOIP over my nice 70Mbps VDSL Connection. As discussed elswhere, VOIP isn't really a significant cost saving, it's features that VOIP give you, you can't easily get or can't get at all over POTS.

If I knew then what I know now, I would have stayed with POTS, I know others will disagree, YMMV.

If it's ADSL1, then stick with POTS.

Bugger. We've just been notified that we're getting fibre laid in the street - they've already marked the footpath. I'd hate to have to leave BigPipe. Mind you, fibre is more of a want than a need at this stage since I'm already getting 30/10 on VDSL.

it does take a few months before the fiber that is laid in the street is able to connect to your house, then it could take a few months after that to even get connected (actual install to your house). BigPipe "SHOULD" have UFB plans by that stage :)

they are bound to have it out soon, cant have the name bigpipe, without selling the larger pipes to the interwebs! ;)

Can you elaborate? We've been using 2talk for our company for 8 months now without a problem from them (only issues have been my own fault...)

Apparently not. It's all go now in the street - Spark are already touting for business (fat chance). 2 weeks all up from notification of the start to available.

Doesn't quite happen that fast all the time. I lived in Parnell earlier on this year and they sent comms out to my street in April but as of yet there still isn't fibre.
