The chorus site says this.

Network capability:
Broadband > 20 Mbps (with the right modem and plan)
Broadband > 10 Mbps
Network upgrade scheduled:
UFB fibre up to 100 Mbps by Apr-2015

According to spark address checker, vdsl is available at my address but vodafone address checker says its not. So i'm guessing im on the borderline and probably won't get decent vdsl speeds?

This means you are in a VDSL area, so should be getting better ADSL than you are.

The most likely explanation is a physical wiring issue, although something like a fault modem should not be ruled out.

Statistically, wiring faults are generally inside the home, rather than on the Chorus network.

As noted above in several posts, a master filter will bypass any internal wiring issues, giving you the best possible connection. This will be $150-$200 (ish) for a professional install. You can DIY it for a lot less than that if you are competent with basic wiring and can easily access the ETP or know where the Chorus wiring ends in your building.

Don't trust a website. If the website says you have a virus click here would you? If the website says you have won a million dollars click here would you?

If you want to know for sure get Vodafone to check not just type in a few words

Are you in a cable area?

Last I checked Vodafone won't do vdsl if cable is available.

Iver your borderline, or your line is just thaaat bad right now.

Call sparks provisioning, ask them for a prequel for vdsl, make sure you get the attention figure while your at it.

If its under 10, likely you will have a good time with vdsl.

If you end p being borderline, like it looks like you are, chorus tech might turn around and say no to a vdsl installation regardless.

Could this still be an internal wiring issue? Does it usually fluctuate like that?

Cheers

Your line stats are bouncing around like crazy.. clear indication something needs fixing...

in just your posting, your attenuation has gone from 25 to 29.

get a splitter installed, get it looked at.

on another note, has it been rather wet, and cleared up recently?

Have you spoken to your isp about getting it looked at, and a master filter yet?
