GrumpyDwarf: I get about 30 spam and 50 bulk a day now !!!! Maybe we should stop reporting these as SPAM and start sending the to Telecom directly, say Kevin Kennrick, then maybe they will do something to fix this problem. Other ISP's can properly filter spam!

As a side bar if you only have a pop address with TCNZ at a cost of a couple of bucks a month what will the credit be ?

Spam is an issue for everyone, and this action wont help. Are you aware of how much spam Xtra actually *prevent* you from getting?

I pity anyone who relies on ISP email anyway.

The gmail method is great, and works very well - I have been doing this for a long time.

I also signed up for the bubble a week ago - its nice, but the 5 - 10 spams a day are annoying after gmail, so I am switching back. All my mail arrives on my domain, so the final mailbox where it ends up (Gmail/Bubble/POP3) is really inconsequential to me.

You can try Microsoft Junk E-mail Reporting Tool for MS Outlook 2003/2007. Works great and you report the selected e-mail as junk e-mail, the junk e-mail will be deleted from your Inbox and sent to FrontBridge, a Microsoft company, for analysis to help improve the effectiveness of the junk e-mail filtering technologies.

Also if you use MS Outlook 2003/2007, be sure to install/update the MS Outlook Junk E-mail Filter too.

Remember that most spam filters look at a combination of factors. Given that a lot of spam is sent from compromised boxes - the source is changing all the time.

Providers like Gmail can afford to be a lot more agressive with spam.
