Just noticed that on Spark's website it advises that 150GB BB + Landline users can move to Unlimited for the same cost from 1 Feb, woohoo!

The above confirmation of no traffic shaping makes this news even better.

I'm fairly sure the Unlimited T&C's still have the traffic management terms in them so that is what you would be signing up to.

But I can personally say without mis-representing my employer that it is quite unlikely that any shaping will be applied any time in the future.

Does this traffic management apply to the 150GB plan?

edit: oh just read lower and no it does not "What other options are available to me if I'm concerned about traffic management? If you don't want to have certain types of traffic de-prioritised at peak times, then you might be better suited to one of our data cap plans. On our website you can buy 40GB, 80GB and 150GB options that will suit most types of uses. If you're a very high user, just give us a call and we can discuss other options with you over the phone."

I changed from the 500gb plan to the unlimited at the beginning of the month and have noticed zero repeat zero difference in speed. P2p is still the same. Speed tests, general browsing, pings, all still the same.

Only reason I changed was the price of the unlimited vs 500th plan come Feb 1. Equals about a 20 per month saving. We don't even get close to 500gb most months

I changed from 500 to Unlimited when I got Fibre.

No difference at all - P2P, Video, Netflix etc all fine.

100Mbps Fibre + Unlimited is a dream.

As much as I really want to change my plan to the Unlimited from 500gb.
I then read this page and think ... wait :(

Edit: Note you can't have a static IP on an unlimited plan...

they are removing the traffic management policy on 1st Feb (2 days time), and it has never actually been implemented anyway

Hmm, might look at moving. I'm on the 150GB plan but don't normally use anywhere near that much. Might be nice to have though...

Im more interested to see whether data shaping will kick in once a decent amount of people switch to unlimited for free so Ill wait a while before I make the jump.

They promised:
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1548477165436020&set=p.1548477165436020

And then they left the policy more-or-less in place (dated 1 February Version 3 at time of posting):
https://store.spark.co.nz/internet/page/adslbroadbandoffersummary/#traffic-management

And "to manage network traffic" is still explicitly cited as a reason to restrict traffic in the verbose legal terms (dated 24 July 2013 and time of posting):
http://www.spark.co.nz/help/other/terms/broadband/#5.ChangingwithholdingsuspendingrestrictingreplacingorterminatingServices

I suppose I'm expecting a bit much for a Sunday, but so far I'm unimpressed with what so far appears to be un-backed up marketing speak.

A note on traffic management is also on the change plan screen.

Btw they said changing from 150GB to unlimited would be free but it's $10 extra. Anyone try changing from 150GB?

Hmm, thinking again about the links I posted, it seems the spectre of traffic managment now (and actually since July 2013) hangs over all spark broadband, not just unlimited.
