I thought the helpdesk was closed past 8pm, if I stay on the line will I still get through? Or do I need to select the fault option?

cheers.

The residential helpdesk is 24*7. If you stay on the line you'll get through eventually although in this SPECIFIC CASE, if you're calling to report this issue as well, I'd recommend hanging up and reading a book :-)

Yes, thanks Talkiet. Most appreciated.

I have been able to log into our corporate VPN and check out some systems there. It appears that someone may have let a significant quantity of magic smoke escape from a big router. There are redundant links and the traffic does appear have failed across to the backup paths (well, it's normally active/active but you probably know what I mean)...

There's still something wrong though as clearly there's still end user issues browsing. That fact is being _highlighted_ at this point to all involved.

As Calvin would say... Further bulletins as events warrant!

Cheers - N

It's not completely fixed, but an initial workaround has been implemented. Have things stabilised out there please people?

Cheers - N

For the moment   --- Seems to be working again?

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

I'm not using the net much at the moment, browsing appears to be a lot more stable.

Thanks people... Clearly the workaround had the intended effect. There may be very minor issues until the root cause is fixed (it will need someone to visit an exchange building with a hammer and some duct tape at least, maybe even some spare parts).

I do not know when that is scheduled so there may be ongoing minor performance impacts for a while. Once we're out of peak time the impact should not be noticable.

Cheers - N

arcon: argh thank god its not just me - i also got kicked off Battlenet... was thinking maybe i got banned for swearing on the forums or something haha.

i've had terrible lag problems over the last month.  like websites having stutter lag or throwing up TCP errors.  in particular http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/ does this all the time, and other forum users say its just me lol.

but tonight even google won't load sometimes :/

is Snap more reliable?  i absolutely will switch if they have their s&^% together more than Spark.

This could happen with any ISP, not just Spark. No provider guarantees 100% uptime for a residential connection.

nzkev: Thanks for this - but disappointing nothing on twitter or spark.co.nz - 2 hours restarting routers and changing DNS - all chasing my tail.

Finally though I'd come here and get some clarity.

Also had to re-register for MySpark today.  What's going on?

They don't give me the keys to the spark.co.nz status page, or the official Twitter/FB pages. I'm not saying that's going to change, but I am going to find out on Tuesday who DOES have those keys.

Bear in mind the people monitoring the social media pages (probably) aren't paid to be on them after hours.

Cheers - N
