Maelstrom: Thanks heaps all for your comments -- really appreciated.  Means I can stop cycling my router! :-)

Yeah I did the same about 4 times

It would be sometimes helpful if you could get a text to know if ur connection was down and then a text back when it was up and running again .

Same here been resetting my router thinking the problem was on my end. Won't wait on the end of the phone any longer now that I know it's a Spark problem. I'll just go to bed and see if it's back when I wake up

Hard to setup an SMS system for that kind of thing, as broadband outages are usually quite localised, and no idea of knowing where your phone is at the time. Also sending out that many SMS's at once would cause a massive amount of congestion on the mobile networks.

Hi all.. .I am off to bed. I can see that the affected network element is still down and I don't have an ETA for repair. Engineers are working on it.

Cheers - N

Circled the router a few times and still no joy. Anyone else still having issues? The Spark official account on Twitter says service is restored but on their web page it says service is down. Either way keeping my fingers crossed for 7am I need broadband to be up :(

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Service was restored around 12:15-12:20 and services trickled back on after that - but they should have been restored by about 1am (mine came back on around 12:25am).
Check your modem is showing line stats (down and up speeds), it should only be PPP thats down. Maybe try another reboot?

As you probably noticed, the network element was restored at about midnight last night. Sessions are re-establishing and it's up to about 95% of normal load (the remaining 5% are probably people that turned off their routers and haven't tried again this morning - although it's a slightly bigger delta than I would expect so there's a chance it may still require a power cycle on your router to bring the link back up)

All the other interfaces in the box are carrying traffic as well, so whatever was broken seems to have been replaced and the node is not operating with reduced capacity.

Cheers - N

Mine went off at about 8.45 pm.  Check the Spark FB page about 9.15pm  and it told all..
