Same problems for me. NZ sites are Ok. Aus sites are ok.  But various other international sites seemed to get very slow or just timeout altogether.  It started happening from about 12:30.   Example is www.bbc.co.uk

Just checked the Spark Facebook page and seems like more people mentioning the issue, Websites loading slow or not at all.

Just heard on the radio news that power is out in some places in Auckland.

Honestly im willing to bet this is just a weather related incident.

I doubt that it's weather related.  All critical Spark services are generator backed. internets within NZ are fine. It really does annoy me that many people are reporting an issue but Spark don't update there status page to say 'hey yeah there's an issue, this is what people are experiencing....we're working on it.'

login to your modem and there will be a DSL page, probably under the internet tab, will have info about your connection speed. up down rates attenuation etc

im on spark VDSL, no issues with any speed tests or pages loads or any of the sites on here

I seems a little better now. You'll notice early in earlier post I mentioned that I was pulling an ISO at 10Mbps so not likely to be an ADSL speed issue.

Something was definitely up (or down I guess)... I have noticed a few key indicators return to full health as at about 3:15pm but I don't know what was wrong, or if all affected services etc are restored.

Not your imagination.

Cheers - N

Speed is ok (>10mb/sec download), but connections to anything beyond Australia are taking a while to initiate. DNS/Routing issue somewhere?

Not as bad as it was 3 or so hours ago when it was unusable, but still not great.

On fibre, have reboothed the ont, router & switches for good measure.

All the overseas sites I was having trouble accessing are working fine again now.  I dont think Spark has much control over international interweb connections.  My money is on it being caused by sharks nibbling at underwater cables

Thanks toii... For Whay It's Worth, the big alarm bell I found cleared itself at 3:15pm and is consistent with intermittent or broken upstream routing for the preceding couple of hours. From what I can tell there's nothing specifically wrong in our network over that time apart from a few usual DOS attacks.  And by upstream - it might be more upstream than an immediate peer as well.

Cheers - N
