Sorry if I wasn't clear. I am not talking about any of the chorus flyers (see here). We received the "your street's ahead" flyer months ago, and the "get ready" flyer in August (I think) stating work in September. I'd heard the horror stories about taking months and months to be ready. According to the link above, the last step should be a third Chorus flyer letting me know that "UFB is now".

This past week I've received "pre-registration" flyers from both Vodafone and Spark (I realise now that their wording is similar to the Chorus flyer) telling me that fibre will be coming "soon" and suggesting I sign up for updates. I was simply wondering if anyone had an idea how long it usually takes after that point.

Could be that the answers are the same, but I just want to make sure that the feedback I'm getting here is accurate. I.e. I'm not concerned with how long it takes after Chorus tells you it's going to happen because I've already gone through that bit.

time frame, up to 12 months, can anyone be more specific, no not really depends on a tonne of things. your isp wont be able to tell you much either as its all based on chorus.

I got one of those flyers from Spark 18 months ago and to date not one inch of fibre has been laid on my street. I can only assume that Spark jumped the gun or the rollout plans changed.

My understanding from several sources, including a Chorus guy who recently did some work on the pit at our place, is six months from when the digging etc is completed. Our digging is due to start next month and we expect to be able apply for connection around April next year.

This sounds far too long. Provisioning of the fibre should be able to commence only a few weeks following installation of the street-side infrastructure. Once you sign up for the actual install there is still about 3 weeks wait to get to the installation at your premises depending on work load in your area. There will be an appointment made to visit your premises to check on how and where it will be installed with the actual installation being a couple of weeks later. You must be in attendance for both visits!

Update.
Digging started 1st week June, all works done by August including covering holes etc.
Chorus map website changed to available 3 weeks ago.
Rang Vodafone the week before last, Chorus scooper visited last week (4 business days later) and installing tomorrow... !
Never saw postcards from ISP saying service available nor contacted by Vodafone despite registering my interest.

I had a very similar timeline/experience but in Tauranga, though judging from speaking with others the time between scoping and install is MUCH longer here. First scoping visit next week, I expect 6-8 weeks before install. I also never received notification from any ISP that it was ready, despite registering interest with a couple. I just noticed one day my property was ready on the map.

I found the same thing with my registration of interest with Orcon down here in Dunedin. I was already online with fibre and had been settling in to the higher speeds for a week or so before their site indicated that my address could get fibre. It might be good to actually ring your chosen ISP when you know that fibre in your street is ready to install to customers and ask them to put through an order. It could take a few days/weeks before their website is updated.

My dad got one of these. When he followed up he was told that UFB was not available at his address and would not be anytime in the foreseeable future.

I got a flyer from Spark telling me that Fibre was now available at my address and I could get 40G of 30/10 Fibre for just $75 a month (from memory). As I had been connected 2 weeks earlier on gigabit, I returned the flyer to them with "This is an insult #gigatown" written across it in large letters. I don't know what their response was when they got it. :-)

I was expecting at least an offer for 100M fibre rather the slowest possible speed on fibre. I don't know if Spark had a gigatown offering at the time but knowing that the postcard was going to a residence in Dunedin it seems rather crazy for Spark to advertise their slowest and lowest data plan. It was almost as though Spark had no idea that Dunedin was getting gigabit speeds on our fibre.
