But wait! There is more!

After some experimentation the occupants have found correlating internet speeds with power draw in the house. Turning on several lights or flushing the toilet (demand pump for tank water) causes a corresponding drop in internet speeds.

Any thoughts? I suspect cross talk between the mains into the house and the phone line. Spark have refused to conduct a wiring test as they blame the cabinet.

Cheers, Matt.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Not at all related. I highly doubt this is the case unless if you're using WiFi.

It's not beyond the realms of possibility, but you'd probably need to do some more extensive testing first to prove it. If there is a correlation, I'd suggest it's more likely the fault is on the power side, not the phone side, with an electrically noisy appliance, or possibly a faulty modem power supply.

Even if you did find an issue with this, being fed from a BUBA cabinet is never going to be a great experience...

michaelmurfy:
Current speed tests show that dial up speeds are about all they can get.

Dialup speeds are 0.056mbit (max) and they're getting vastly over that. I would suggest look at RBI or a wireless provider. This cabinet is currently not on the RBI upgrade list.

Oh man i wish ookla would put some sort of marker to say what dialup speed actually is on their speedometer

Thanks again guys.

The speed test is mostly irrelevant anyway as most web pages time out or fail to load properly.

Cheers, Matt.

I wouldn't have thought there would be too many parts of Ramarama that couldnt see the Compass transmitter at the top of Maxted Rd.
