There is a Greenfields (Fibre Fed) Property at 99 Atkinson Ave.  Maybe that is what the Tech was talking about?

No other plans for Fibre that I can see.

I've actually got to ask what are these Greenfields properties? See quite a bit of Purple now.

Normally they are new subdivisions where there is no existing copper. So Fibre is installed. Never seen just one property before.

Just to pick on a few local ones, Where there is Just one property

Mccentee Property is right behind exchange, Rest are areas that would have been quite a penny to get fibre to!

as a sidenote while talking about things on CCM, do RBI upgraded cabinets fibre runs not count as "Chorus Fibre" or is that simply not been updated in a long time? Its totally irrelevant, but something that simply sticks right out as Data possibly missing for me.

That's interesting, there are no new subdivisions and the houses on that street have been there for years.

If you can afford that House then a few extra $ (% Wise) on the bill for fibre wouldnt be that much :-)

Rest are areas that would have been quite a penny to get fibre to!

Must be more and more popping up then.  Yes sometimes the new Fibre isn't updated into the maps for a while.  You can always use the Feedback option to advise wialus.

Fair point, Although its not exactly in the more expensive parts! just close proximity.

was more the fact that it shows up as greenfields rather than simply being a paid UFB point, which normally seem to popup as RBI or simply UFB points not within the existing shapemaps.

As far as I know, they arent new subdivisions, Although i haven't paid attention while driving through there recently. Ill have to go on a little drive on my next day off though to be sure.

I may look to actually point out things with the feedback option at some point.

hio77: OT/G would be correct name for that cabinet.

Planned dates is July 2015 to June 2016 so anywhere in there you will get migrated over, As fibre is still being laid currently your a little way off still however.

Sure enough 1st June arrives and I get a phone call to say VDSL is available and would I like to sign up :)

Lets see if it improves my current 17Mbps by much. The guy on the phone was very non-committal which is to be expected.

So, sometime between December and today, you obviously got switched over to the new cabinet (you went from 6Mbps to 17Mbps). What are your Attenuation figures like now? I'd say that if you are getting 17 on ADSL2, you will get 30+ on VDSL (plus a decent increase in upload speeds).

It would seem that way. I currently get the following:

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.2/18.9

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 10.0/18.5

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 12.7/12.0   I did write down the old 6Mpbs but cant find them right now. When I've looked at it previously I've expected around 30Mbps and if that's the case I will be stoked after having had 6Mbps for so long.

[e]

As soon as I stop looking I find them !

My old figures where 22.6/44/5 for attenuation and 12.8/12/1 for SN Margin

ild put you at 8b 30~40/8 at a guess for vdsl. longer line, expect a bit of loss overtime as uptake increases.

I could hear him muttering 8b and 9 under his breath when I asked him what I could expect. His first response was I might get 17Mbps.

I've ordered it, if I get any significant improvement Ill be happy.

Right, Chorus have just left and I have the following:

Line standard VDSL2

Downstream line rate (kbit/s) 28805

Upstream line rate (kbit/s) 4876

Downstream SNR (dB)  9.4

Upstream SNR (dB)  9.1

Downstream line attenuation (dB) 22.6

Upstream line attenuation (dB) 9.2

Downstream output power (dBmV) 18.5

Upstream output power (dBmV) 6.9

He said it's likely to improve over the next 7-10 days, so fingers crossed it goes up.
