There is always going to be the proportion of users who use a lot more than others..

im sure Spark have plenty enough bandwidth that they are okay with that small population..

And I think the days of "look what I did last month" are gone. These days people have freedom to watch what they want, when they want. BB is cheaper, unlimited is here and works well. And the premium from X GB to Unlimited is very low.

They capped the extra GB at the unlimited price.

Lols, yes it's a box in the cupboard and has "Optical Network Terminal" written on it.

It reads like existing customers will lose the option. I'm not quite ready to go to Unlimited yet, only use 60GB a month, but will see how the MySky OnDemand stuff goes. Spark should be getting rid of the 40GB cap too, at least on Fibre (Voda doesn't have it at all).

I think all providers should be simplifying things and removing as many systems as possible, the only way to increase their margins. $50 is a bit steep, but will prompt a discussion, where the answer may be, we will move you onto Unlimited permanatly and credit the difference ($40) maybe?

This won't change the fact some people will never be happy and will always find things to complain about... I'm sure we'll have some film maker who'll try and upload 4K content over a standard ADSL connection then complain about how slow NZ broadband is in the future.

You missed the part where this multi-millionaire film-maker, injecting millions into the economy (and collecting more than a few concessions I bet) then uses a $100/month residential service and complains that it's not suitable for his multi-million dollar product.

I'm confident had any production company turned up and said they needed a connection suitable for uploading very large files, daily, to an overseas site, many providers would have been able to supply them with something suitable.

Personally, I'm disappointed that not all rental cars in Italy are Ferraris.

No. What you've done there is deliberately stretch a reasonable analogy to a silly extent. High speed action sequences with supercars would have a significantly non-zero chance of damaging the cars, plus those cars in NZ are relatively rare.

Unlike, I dunno, a high speed internet connection, which is available at reasonable commercial rates most places in NZ, and for which the company would use it for generally it's normal use.

I personally think this is heavy handed of spark to just assume they know what is best for the consumer, what they should have done was move everyone over but leave the option for them to opt out.
