This system seems to be quite broken...

Only for the past 5+ years, on & off (seriously)
Do whats suggested above, send via Orcon .

xtra email is actually yahoo. Spark wont be able to offer much help .
or wait a week & it may all start working again.

The thing is there is no money in normal email, and probably a big percentage of their support calls will be only about email. Although someone is making a bit from advertising in their webmail system. Potentially they could save a heck of a lot by dropping email. But it keeps people staying with them, as many people don't want to lose their xtra email address.

While it doesnt apply to geeks, for the masses, ISP email is easy. I work for an RSP. My email is theirs. I use webmail on my laptop. My smartphone and tablet arent set as IMAP but they act as IMAP. Literally no settings. It always works. Now I see the usual "don't use ISP email" that pops up on every thread like this, but email is email. Its basic, its ubiquitous.

Use Gmail, use Hotmail, use Yahoo. Spark uses Yahoo. Nuff said

You are not going to get Joe and Joanne Blogs setting up domain email, simple as that.

yitz: Why aren't you using Orcon's SMTP auth mail.orcon.net.nz SSL on port 587 ? https://help.orcon.net.nz/Technical-Support/Email/44709813/What-are-the-Orcon-POP-SMTP-and-IMAP-email-server-settings.htm

That is a good idea, I didn't know about that option. I'll give it a try next time I'm talking to her - and thanks smile

Although IMO they should under the CGA, as they are the retailer providing the service. If they decide to contract that out to a third party, then they still have to take responsibility for the service, and they should have full control. Really they should be able to set it up for you manually if you call them, if the online way of doing it is down.

I doubt it will be covered under the CGA.
Spark have zero obligation to allow it to be setup to send as a orcon email address (as they wanted to do)
And in the T&C's , there will be a clause something like best effort only .

IT & CGA are 2 words that dont belong in the same sentence . Just they way it actually is , not the way it should be (by law).
:-)

Update: this worked perfectly. Thank you so much for this suggestion! :)
