ninjabear: 200mb isnt alot and the price just seems ridiculous.Even my uncle does web surfing and download emails using dialup passes 200 mb.
I find $30 is a bit of a ripp o for $30 and to say it is $16 for the first 3 months. They'll surely fool alot of users
richms: Good marketing idea IMO.

I disagree
Its not the dollar cost I object to
It is the fraudulent nature of their advertising claims
It is but another example of how Telecom treat their customers
And why, as a company, they can not be trusted
I think they need to be more up-front, and to show their clients more respect
(But I aint holding my breath)

manhinli: The most rip off part is the overage: $0.20 / MB!

freitasm:
Really, I can't see why you are calling it "fraudulent".

"Broadband for the price of dialup"
It isn't - at least not in my case
"$16.95 per month"
But if you pay $2.50 per hour and use the Internet for more then seven hours a month...
By the way, I couldn't find the $2.50 per hour plan anywhere on Telecom's site. Does it still exist or are you on an old plan that is no longer avcailable? If this is the case then I think it is reasonable Telecom offer this as "for the price of dialup", if it matches its current available plans.

But only for the first few months
Maybe "fraudulent" is too strong - lets just say "misleading"
I still think Telecom are not being as up-front and honest as they should be
Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries
Another thing jim - are you actually with Xtra at all? As freitasm says, the $2.50 an hour plan is not one they currently offer.

jim.cox: And I wouldn't call it $2.50 per hour - thats what it was originally - but they changed it to $5 per month for up to 2 hours - bit of a shame that as I normally only use around 15 minutes :(

jim.cox: But I'm only paying $5 per month for dial-up
They'll have to do better than that...
