I recall on another thread someone had provisioned the second ONT port.

*If your neighbor has UFB* How hard would it be to just run a Cat 6 from your house to their and use that second port? Connect your own RGW at your house or what ever!

I am not sure what the distances are and it may sound bad but I have had many successful long outdoor cat6 runs in my time with standard cable!

Not really an issue in residential circumstances. Definitely annoying in businesses.

In this case, the neighbour is not a direct neighbour. They are on the other side of the road and at least 140 metres away.

I will refrain from suggesting some TimA grade connectivity! Hio77 would most likely have a PTSD episode if brought up ;)

Could get fancy with some air fibre but I feel in this case the best options have already been exploited.

TimA came out and setup a P2P link for the customer, they now have an amazing fibre connection.

Only problem is the Frequent disconnections everytime a car drives past.

check with your neighbour and see if you can setup a point to point link to their house and split the cost of the internet or something like that.

The UFB 2 maps are rather vague at best, I would not assume you will not get fibre in stage 2.

Hi all. Just a quick update. Thought you'd all be interested in the quote from Chorus to get connected.

Wheelbarrow01 kindly asked chorus for an estimate and this was their reply, "The estimate to install services to 102 Shaw Rd is $22,500. Please note: connection, lead in cable and other expenses may also apply. Can you please highlight that network extension is not as simple as extending a piece of fibre. We need to drill, install duct and haul fibre as well as installing a pit for the required equipment, for which council consents would be required."

So there you have it. At that price I will be staying with what I have.

Areas like this, falling between two roll-outs should (in all common sense) be in the just announced UFB2 extension. Worth sending an email to Crown Fibre Holdings whilst it is still in a planning phase.
