My Bigpipe connection switched over to Spark's network last week. Does anyone know if Skinny has shifted yet? I really can't deal with CGNAT even for a short while, so will wait for confirmation before I place an order.

Skinny and bigpipe are on the same network.

The switchovers themselves are being done at a physical level, which doesn't always correlate to all connections of all mediums switching at the same time.

I've updated my Speedtest in my signature - the speed is pretty much exactly the same but I did notice a slight improvement in latency but I'm unsure whether there is just blind luck or whether it is due to PPPoE over VLAN vs. straight PPPoE. The setup was pretty quick where it was all completed with 3 days and now I am all setup. It'll be interesting to see whether eventually BigPipe and Skinny Direct get all rolled back into Skinny so then there is a single sub brand given how much overlap there is between the services.

If so, what was your timeline (ordering Skinny, cancelling BP etc) and downtime?

I have a colleague who changed ISPs and had his new one enabled on the 2nd ONT port, then cancelled the old connection only after confirming the new connection working. This ensured he wouldn't land himself without internet for days if the new connection didn't happen on time.

Having said that, his connection didn't come back after Enable's planned outage last night & his ISP suspect that his unusual config (using the 2nd ONT port) could be related. I also see that Skinny's website say they are reluctant to provision as a 2nd fibre connection. These sound like more compelling reasons to keep to the normal process, provided typical downtime is likely to be hours rather than days.

Nope there was a genuine issue with Enables' planned maintenance last night. The fix in case you are curious is to turn the ONT and modem off for at least 5 minutes. (And this isn't one of those 'turn it off for 5 minutes to let the electricity fully escape things)

That's very interesting, thanks! The last I had heard was that he'd got to his ISP's 2nd level support & they'd apparently had 3 customers with the same issue, all in Chch so were about to talk to Enable.
