A GB of data is a lot for a month, $20 a week effectively gets you 4GB a month.

Unless you're spending your time constantly streaming, I'd imagine it would be stacks of data for the average person.

And if it really isn't enough, you can spend the Vodafone equivalent and get 2GB total for the week and still have everything you already paid for waiting at home.

I'd be curious to know what makes it $35 a week better. That's a lot of cash.

For a start it's more than data if you understand how $5 daily roaming works

And if you just want data why bother paying for roaming you may as well get a local SIM card

My standard process is to set up call forwarding from my NZ mobile (Skinny don't do call forwarding) and then get a local sim. In Taiwan you can get unlimited 4g data for your mobile, it's great!

I always tend to use a lot more data while i'm overseas.. especially in countries where mobiles are used to do everything

Just got back from 4 weeks in China and I had used 25gb~.. I'm on an unlimited plan so the $5 a day got me unlimited calls, texts and data.. great value in my case as.

Biggest thing for me is that i just works without hassle and 4g coverage

The only thing you don't get is text messages but I can live with that.

I find these days when roaming

I need my NZ number to be active
I tend to call outside of the country i'm in to OZ/NZ/Singapore
I use a lot of wifi data at offices / hotels

Hence the Skinny roaming works perfectly.

Day2Day i'm on their $16 / 28 day plan which is enough when in NZ and I add $10 or $20 roaming when travelling.

I have a dual SIM phone, but the hassle of getting a local SIM and then having to pay to terminate inbound calls from work just isn't worth it in terms of $$ or time.

Generally known online as OpenMedia, now working for Red Hat APAC as a Technology Evangelist and Portfolio Architect. Still playing with MythTV and digital media on the side.

On my Mi phone (dual sim). I can default the internet to one SIM and then default phonecalls to the same or the other SIM. So you can use your Skinny SIM and another one.

If I was going overseas, Skinny might not be my first choice for roaming. I won't bring 2 different NZ SIMs overseas, I bring one but it's likely to be Vodafone or Spark. 2Degrees in Taiwan they list Chungwha but I find their rates more expensive.
