andrewNZ: @tdgeek How long ago is "back in the day"?
My example was less than 10 years ago, I suspect 5-6 years ago. I left Spark around 3 years ago and I have a suspicion it was still the same when I left. Absolutely no evidence though...

@AndrewNZ  I cannot recall when dynamics moved from sticky, but maybe 4 to 5 years ago? After 2012.

Thank you everyone for replying :) I think I have an idea now. Since this thread is getting off-topic I consider this locked.

Not super in the know with this stuff, but would having an IPv6 address solve the issue of having to move IPv4 addresses around customers? Ignoring the fact a lot of back end probably needs to be upgraded, but once IPv6 is properly in place, should this be an issue the disappears?

At one stage they did include static IP optionally at no extra charge on their mainstream "Total Home Broadband" plan, this was around 2011-2013.

yes or they just use CGNAT which means one IP address for many customers, just means its next to impossibe of the customer to do any port forwarding/connecting back to their connection
