Plazrael:

So Spark tempted me into changing from the Unlimited Gigatown Fibre plan to the Unplan Gigatown Entertainment plan.
(I just wanted Netflix for the life of my plan instead of 3 months)
But -
Since I changed a week ago websites are loading slowly about 50% of the time.

Really annoying when paying for Gigatown plan.

Im surprised they are still offering the gigatown plan considering its EOL in June, so Id be expecting a Price increase or plan change :(

Firefox developer inspector network timing info below,
but probably wrote down wrong data as I have no idea what I'm doing.

I did my best to get the info from the Firefox developer tools inspector,
but have no idea what I'm doing and probably copied completely irrelevant info,
Couldn't work out how to save a log, so I just wrote down what I saw -
Hopefully to just prove that I'm not "Seeing ghosts"
If not too bad for me I have to get ready for surgery tomorrow.

Firefox, Developer tools, Inspector, Network Tab
Example for 1News Site I have bookmarked
Blocked 0 ms
DNS Resolution 8170 ms
Connecting 15 ms
TLS Setup 47 ms
Sending 0 ms
Waiting 31 ms
Receiving 32 ms

I don't know How to save a Log of the big list of
TVNZ urls with Times and Kbs transferred
but the top one says
tvnz.co.nz file One-News Document html Transferred 29.46KB Size 191.74KB 8295ms under the time scale thing

Anyway if this is useless info then fine, possibly not Spark's fault, nothing's changing on my end though and I'm definitely not seeing ghosts -
On the way here Googled Geekzone, waited 5-6 seconds for google search to do anything and failed with "Can't seem to find that site" (Never happens) then taking 5 seconds to complete the next search and 5-6 seconds for bookmarked 1news website to start loading, I dunno, just cross my fingers hope it goes away.

DNS Resolution 8170 ms

That seems like it would be the cause of your issue

The OP says the problem seems to have started a few weeks back - the DNS problem seems to have started earlier today. Probably unrelated.

OP, are you using ethernet or WiFi?

yes but his testing is being done now, which is likely skewed by the above fault. so the numbers might be meaningless at the moment till the DNS issue is fixed

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

True. Better do the testing some other time then.

Hey tried to login said I was banned cause of rate limit or something, sorry couldn't reply.

Restarted ONT modem to get a new IP.

Problems for me only last 24 hours.

I don't use auto ip I have the DNS primary and secondaries entered manually in Windows and my modem, I use the spark ones.

Are you guys saying it's a prob with the DNS server and to chill?

Back to normal now. That was quick. Touch wood.  Might just keep my mouth shut from now on but it was good to learn that Spark doesn't throttle our connections, so I'm glad I posted. Thanks.

Spark are yet to tell us what they are doing for existing customers, Vodafone and Stuff Fibre are extending their offer a year iirc.
