They have tweeted that it is for Spark sourced devices only which is just laughable.

Words fail me they really do. Good job Spark.

Except it’s not even working on Spark sourced devices. I feel like customer support doesn’t know what’s going on. Are there actually any differences between an iPhone purchased from Apple and an iPhone purchased from Spark?

Other devices will come at a later date.

There are complexities around how on net devices provision compared to off network.

It's nothing about lets lock you into on network or anything like that...

Hm.

I'd log an issue with the front line then so they can correctly look into why it's not working for your device.

Hmm is it specifically limited to devices purchased through the spark store or devices just currently using a spark SIM card (on network)? Could understand off network not working yet (like you mentioned) but they’re implying it only works if you purchased the phone through spark.

And if you thought the Spark Sourced devices only wasn't stupid enough wait until you hear about the Wearable pricing and rollout details. I've just seen them and again I'm banging my head on the desk.

And on that note, I'm pulling out of this thread.

www.spark.co.nz/chat if you require support or wish to reach out to spark for further information :)

an interaction with spark is still required to do the physical sim to esim swap.

Update for anyone still having issues:

Spark help desk have identified the issue, hoping to have it fixed sometime tomorrow.

I suspect it’s to do with how they’ve attempted to whitelist only Spark purchased iPhones. I pre-ordered mine through Spark but its IMEI never made it onto that list 🤦🏻‍♂️

Very happy to see this feature finally in NZ and not to fussed if it takes a couple of days to sort through teething issues. It will be super handy for travel, being able to use a local sim for data but still receive calls and texts through Spark.

A bit disappointed as I have a Spark sim provided by work but my iPhone wasn’t obtained through Spark. If I understand how they’re doing this, I won’t be able to request my spark sim to be converted.

Are they really doing this only for spark obtained iPhones? I can’t see the point as to what that’s going to achieve for them?

I have an iPhone not purchased from Spark but I have a Spark plan, do they still want my business?

This makes no sense, without an official explanation as to why non Spark devices are incompatible it looks like a dick move on the surface.

To add insult to injury the CSR on the Live chat said any queries related to eSIM need to be handled by tech support who will call me back, thats fine... I'm on the line with one now and when I told him I wanted to activate eSIM on my iPhone he replied "What is eSIM?" lol. I roughly explained what it is and now I've been on hold for 8 minutes and counting as I can only assume he is looking up what eSIM is.
