NPCtom:
20?!?! Gonna switch to the 100/100 now. That is ridiculous.
Your in the Unique part of the market that wants upload.
I personally would love high upload plans. I suspect most wont be keen to pay for those though, they only care about how fast the download goes.
As you have noted, Bigpipe have a great option at 100/100

Won't be switching to BigPipe anytime soon haha. Wish Spark would offer higher upload speeds on any plan. I have a servers in the US that I frequently upload to and 400kb/s is a bit too low for me :/

uh... 20mbit upload is 2.5MB/s
400kbit would be about 3.2mbit..

Oops sorry my bad
NPCtom:
Sorry was just running what my speedtest said...
Right, so there are many reasons that could be inconclusive compared to what you get real world.

Bingo, that's exactly how it works. Nice to see it all broken down into costs though!
Your change of plan should be near instant (probably 5-10 mins to flow through) then you just hit the Activate button in myspark and login to your netflix account. It's real easy!
I confirm that. My concern was drama re the old Netflix (previously paid by Spark, but not now) Follow the prompts, you will be told by a Netflix email that the CC has been stopped as Spark pays, I will just be billed $3-52(or whatever it is) for the premium option.

Yep.
That journey was completed Many times by my own hands and many more others too. i wish we could have somehow not even needed that step.
i would argue it's just as easy as using the netflix native options :)

NPCtom:We just switched to Spark's new Unplan Fibre 200 service and I was wondering what others thought of it. I myself usually use 300-400GB each month so we would of course be at the $120 price tier. How does it compare to Spark's naked broadband plans?
Almost every ISP?RSP these days concentrates on providing fast reliable unlimited Internet access with a couple of speed tiers. Dear god, Spark are still stuck in the bad old days of presenting a multitude of confusing 'plans' and contracts all with various restrictions, inserting themselves as a middle man portal to third party services. I guess if you are a sole person who uses the internet very little, desperate to pare down your bill to the bone by erm.. not actually using the internet... erm.. this may somehow make sense but I tell you our family was delighted to see the end of metered internet access and will never go back to it. Sparks sister company Skinny does not go on with all this nonsense. YMMV.
Cheers
Y
quickymart: Actually, Skinny is owned by Spark (they're not brother/sister companies).
Yes I know that. Does wholly owned subsidiary sound better to you?
OK had a slight problem with Netflix activation.
I never received the promised Netflix activation token email so initially tried online chat which I had problems with (see this topic). I also had problems via this Spark site: https://www.spark.co.nz/secure/myspark/netflix/ which after trying to activate via phone authorisation codes 3 times which sent me back to that link, I had an online chat to Ivy and we sorted everything out and now Netflix is paid for via Spark.
Interesting exercise and not as smooth as it should of gone.
But all good now.
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Can you DM me your account details (account number and service), i'd like to look over the web calls that were made.
I'll also need your myspark login email so i can check over permissions there.

After only a couple of days the speed change has now propagated. Over WiFi on a 2012 MBP with household interference speedtest to Auckland reads 160Mbps down and 17Mbps up.
Quite happy with the change so well done Spark, but get a plan to increase those upload speeds!

Actually so did I. I think on 15 April, I used the web site to swap to Unplan Entertainment and it all appeared to go okay, but I never got any confirmation. I did actually have a web chat after I made the change, because I was a bit confused on the price increase. The other thing, which I hadn't thought about until today, was that I didn't get that web chat transcript either.
Today I checked my account and realised I was still on my original Unplan and Netflix was still being charged to my Credit Card. Had another web chat and finally got it switched. Got the Neflix token email this time as well as the chat transcript, so all good.
