pistolpower: Dude thats unaceptable. Go to them and demmand your rights. Say to them that they promised they would give you a service. You had beeen guaranteed that there was no problems and both of you had agreed. And if there not going to give you what they promised because its out of there hands then they will just have to give you an equivelent wireless conection for the same price you originally where going to pay. And if there has to be any new hard ware required to use this then they are obliged to pay for it as then they will still not be giving you what they said they would give you. And say you will go and seek asistance of consumer watchdogs and the like if they continue to be unreasonable in meeting there promises and obligations to there custermor. But make shure your not talking to a philipino as theyre just call centre workers. Talk to someone who actually works for telecome inside new zealand as the call center people probably couldnt help you anyways.
What rights?
I'm afraid that you've got this very wrong, pistolpower.
No-one promised anyone a service, and as noted in the terms and conditions of Telecom Broadband plans;
"Telecom Broadband is not available in all areas. And occasionally factors like the distance of our equipment from a particular site or address mean we are unable to deliver Telecom Broadband even where Telecom Broadband is available in your area" - amongst others that are present on the contract that you sign in-store for a Telecom Broadband connection.
They're not obliged to do anything.
