myfullflavour: Some of our customers have bought a second ADSL or VDSL connection for the next 1-2 months. Kids / learning on connection 1, home business on connection 2.

I dont suppose there is anything like dual bonded VDSL available in NZ?

No, Chorus did trial this years ago, but I don't think it came to much. There may be a few smaller ISP's that will bond a couple of connections for you, but expensive. Or a Dual WAN Draytek can load balance two VDSL connections.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

Just to tie this thread up I had an Asus DSL-AC68U lying around which has a broadcom chipset. I set it up using vectoring in a similar fashion to the Draytek. Interestingly my download has dropped about 3Mb, but upload has increased around 0.5Mb. Could be due to the age of the modem, it's running the latest firmware from Dec 2019.

I'll probably end up sticking with the Draytek, but at least now I know that there are no faults and I'm actually doing pretty well for how far I am from the cabinet!

Morning Guys,

VDSL issues - part 2.... Ive been quite happy with my VDSL connection as below for the distance that I am from the cabinet. Ive consistently got 30Mbs down and 1Mbs up. Suddenly about 10 days ago this changed to around 16Mbs down and 05.Mbs up. The stability of the connection is all over the place. Every now and then it will reconnect at 30Mbs, but doesnt stay there fore long. The line attenuation seems to almost double, but is around 23 sometimes.

Before I call Spark, any ideas on what I should be asking them? New and old stats posted below

Hi Everyone,

I realise this has been covered multiple times, but I just wanted to get an opinion on what to ask before I call Spark. I'm getting 30Mbs down, but less than 1Mb up on a rural VDSL connection. I'm about 1.5km from the cabinet (as per the road). This has become a huge issue with two kids/wife/myself attempting to carry out video conferencing while in lock down. For all four of us it's essential work and school requirements. Using a Vigor 130 modem connecting to Ubiquiti wireless equipment.

Any thoughts appreciated.
