Stu1: I think I have worked it out , I brought a Vodafone tv to try but didn’t like it I turned the unit off so it wouldn’t use data , chorus has come and installed Fibre and I’m thinking the unit has switched on and has been running, would Vodafone tv use 2.84 gb per hour?.

Not sure about Vodafone TV however for Netflix:

  • Low (0.3 GB per hour)
  • Medium (SD: 0.7 GB per hour)
  • High (Best video quality, up to 3 GB per hour for HD and 7 GB per hour for Ultra HD)

Source: https://netspeed.net.nz/support/reducing-high-data-use/

I am guessing Vodafone TV would be similar

checked usage in 3 days on without streaming used 164 gb crazy amount for a box just switched on

If its on a channel then it is streaming even if its not outputting to a TV at the time.

No different to any other streaming box, except unlike youtube it doesnt stop after a few hours to ask if youre still there.

thats true makes sense for to run all the time, might look at wireless data for them for a month   it’s expensive going over the data cap

Just pop him onto an unlimited plan. Problem solved, and the cost difference nowadays is negligible.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

That usage is pretty Brutal though, VF should really give a warning...

They do actually, on the box it says the service requires a Fibre Connection with unlimited data

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.
