Well the agent sounds like they need some basics in mobile tech and customer care.

Skinny is yet to enable their 5G on Apple devices. I have had the same issue but switched to Spark.

Reason: Skinny (for some dumb reason) is not certified for VoLTE and therefore cannot activate 5G. When I rang up the agent said “it’s a b*****t policy” and filed a formal complaint on my behalf.

Skinny 5G currently is in Samsung only

Apologies if you got mixed messages around this. It's not a specific Spark or Skinny policy thing - it's a joint thing between us and the handset vendor, involving a certification process that ends with them pushing out software once both parties are happy with performance etc.

We are obviously working hard with them to bring this out asap...

Well isn’t Spark and Skinny the Same network? In the about phone it says Spark 44.0 under Skinny.

Spark was quick to enable 5G on iPhone? A confusing system

Understand your frustration, however it’s not that simple. Whilst we share the same access-networks some of our backend systems are different. This means different configurations in the handsets.

That’s not true I bought my iPhone 12 from Harvey Norman and it works on Spark 5G but not on skinny yet.

If you didn’t buy your device from Spark they have to activate it in-store. Don’t even try calling as I waited 3 hours! And they didn’t do anything! Customer service needs some work. Luckily by here was an experienced person working at the shop.

Any updates about when the 5G Option might be coming to the iPhone 12 line for Skinny Customers as I have just today bought myself a iPhone 12 and have noticed it is still missing 😔

As of now skinny has not been 5G certified.

For 5G to work the provider needs to have VoLTE, Skinny is not VoLTE/5G certified yet. Contact skinny for rollout info

Spark offer a $40/month Endless Mobile plan, while Skinny offer a $36/28day plan, meaning Skinny charges 13 times in a year. With Spark your charger 12 times in a year.

Skinny: &468/year
Spark: $480/year or an extra $1/month

UPDATE: with the release of iOS 14.5, Skinny 5G is now available on the iPhone 12 Pro. The regular iPhone 12 is also showing 5G settings.

It never shows me 5G though. Even with that setting in, I can’t use it.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

I see you’re using dual sim. 5G doesn’t work when that’s enabled from my understanding.
