Wheelbarrow01:

Hi @mvil,

I've messaged a contact at Spark/Bigpipe to make her aware of your problem and provide the link to this post. She said she will pass it on to to appropriate people to reach out and assist.

As a BP user without any (current) issues, I have to thank you for doing this and hope that maybe someone inside Telecom will fix the support hole.

Bigpipe users will all be legacy customers that just keep paying the monthly bill. I doubt we generate excess support issues - in fact I would think (with the way Bigpipe was aimed at a certain type of user - less issues than most users) - but sometimes things that the customer can't fix are broken.

It's one thing to have minimal support - yet another to have absolutely none.

While their pricing used to be okay a few years ago (disclaimer, I used to work for them) it's not as sharp now as it used to be. A pity as they were a good basic provider - but the likes of Quic have overtaken them in pricing and (based on the feedback in this thread, anyway) support.

Dave is awesome for spark/bigpipe/skinny issues but... you should need to escalate like this, their chat support should be working properly

When I was a BP customer their Chat / Facebook support was excellent

I enjoyed them taking my Internet payment two weeks earlier this month with no warning. If it wasn't for the static IP address I would look elsewhere.

If its a 3rd party router you'll have a hard time getting much support from any ISP apart from the settings on their website. I fixed a mates One NZ connection this week where they'd been trying to configure his connection as DOCSIS cable....in Dunedin where there is no cable.

So there's no live chat anymore? I have no Internet and the email response I got advises to try live chat that doesn't exist? I would change if it wasn't for the fact their static IP cost is a one off.

I asked what methods of support and got

"It can be through this email, sending a support case, or live messaging via our Facebook page"

I figured that if/when that happens to me, it might be worth moving on.

It was awful enough trying to deal with them over some sort of network issue in 2018 when they still had chat.

For what it's worth, I decided that maybe Quic.nz looked like a good option - seems well liked by GZ people and the cost is $85 a month on the 300/100 plan and either $6 per month for a static IP, or a one-off charge of $49.

Don't know if's possible to switch when you have an issue like that though...

EDIT: I replaced the HG659 a couple of years back with a TP-Link Deco m4 - I recall it took a couple of minutes to connect up initially.

Thanks, I may look at that because the lack of any live support options sucks, and I'd be ashamed to direct my customers to something that doesn't even exist. I'll try Facebook messenger, thanks.

Agree, long EOL ISP.

Many recommend quic and have referal codes in signatures for free sign up. There are also codes on the website (if you can find them hidden).

Yeah I'll definitely be checking it out. No reply on Facebook and nothing to my emails. Incredibly poor service, it is a pity because I am sure it used to be a lot less crap than this.

Yeah. BigPipe isn't the best anymore. I had to actually raise a formal compliant to get their customer service to ring me to help fix what problems I was having. And that took a while. I recommend to switch to Quic for sure. Or to use some other ISP. OneNZ isn't the greatest reputation.

To that end. I just hope BigPipe does go back to it's former Glory days but that's a BIG IF....
