I am praying that telecom seriously rethinks its plans at launch as i would really like to port my number but the current plans are really really poor.

From a friend on the pilot - there will definatly be new voice and data plans, which we will all get to hear about closer to the time of course - those on the pilot don't even know what they are yet afaik.

SDunno about really really poor, they have some great industry and association plans but I agree their value doesn't seem to stack up on a dollar-to-dollar basis with VF plans.....

Sorry, OT.........

I know this sounds old school, but what happened to the Nokia 6267?

Nice easy flip with no external areal, Quad GSM + 850 & 2100 UTMS, BT, FM Radio (Yes I use it), MicroSD, NO “try hard” Smart(not quite)phone OS, and big buttons for fat fingers (not like Nokia 3120c)

I find the flexi plars are a LOT better than having to buy up front, peak time, rounded-up minutes to start with and then pay the hideous higher rates if you go over.. whoops!!!
I sometimes don't even send 30SMS in a month and I much prefer the "pay only if you use it" concept.

I really hope I can take my current flexi plan to the new network.

yea i just had a look, they look ok, wouldn't mind if the data rates came down tho, really annoying having a smartphone and not being able to use half the stuff on it coz i dont want to fork out for a dataplan just to check emails.

Yes, totally agreed the data plans have been left buried by Vodafone's fantactic pricing of recent. I'm holding out for better data plans, then I'd be complete.

Flexi really is a gem, Hope they do something Flexi-ish with their data offerings (all overage works out to be at same cost as initial block or there is a scaled decrease in price the more you use.)

please telecom!!! even if its just a 100mb plan for 10-20$ more that would be great.

Personally I don't think that telecom will release new cheap data plan, because it will be a new network and lot of investment has been poured into building it. Have a look at telstra's data pricing, it is ridiculously high because it is new and cover more area than competitors. Vodafone nz has cheaper data plan, therefore less coverage and reliability, as many has known by now. If you don't use data, then telecom's new hspa-only network is meaningless. AT&T has been upgrading its 3g coverage for 3 years, but there are still countless complain about its reliability. Being a long term data customer with telecom, I'm sure it will deliver its promise

paradoxsm: Telecom reliability.

Tongue out Amazing how its a reliable network when its not even 'live' yet.

I wasn't commenting on their new network, If I could get a sim for it i'd be a very very happy man!

I was referring to their accurate billing and good, accessible service from local staff or VoIPly faint but friendly Filipinos and CDMA/PSTN/ADSL performance.

I have always been intrigued by Telstra's amazing reluctance to reduce prices, you are right about them boasting their impressive coverage as a way to charge more for "quality"

I just hope Telecom focus on solid value data offerings and a reliable network backbone and not "streaming video", "ringtones", "wallpapers" "content exclusitivities" and other novelty gimmicks.

I was at the Telecom shop on Tuesday and asked about the handsets. The salesperson said that they don't do their training until early May so he would know more then. He did say that they are running very low on current stock so will be very happy to receive new phones when the new network launches.

He also added that he had an Australian tourist in the day before who had been roaming on the new network and the feedback regarding coverage was pretty good. (Bottom of south island).

AT&T have a legacy GSM network to operate as well, and I believe they are tighter on spectrum over there unlike NZ where telecom get virtually half of it to drop the WCDMA network on, with no GSM to share it with.
