freitasm: Our very own Moderator Emeritus Tony Hughes is going to fly to Auckland to represent Geekzone at the media launch and later on that day at the launch party.

At the media launch he'll be briefed on the new plans, handset lineup and have the chance to ask questions to the Telecom management...

Lucky guy - all this while the rest of the crew is in Sydney for CeBIT.

Do anyone actually work here?

My invite arrived this morning so I'll see Tony at the party.

I think you need to be either a well known technology commentator or a valued corporate client to get an invitation.  Telecom appear to be labouring under the illusion that I fit into the latter category.

Yes, I am representing Geekzone at this event. It will be a pleasure to be back in the city of sails after a few months since my last visit. In fact, Auckland is almost as good as Wellington ;-)

If anyone going happens to see me, feel free to come and say hi.

I'll be the guy with the shaved head, that is as tall as Dr Reynolds, except im not Dr Reynolds. (lol)

I'll be the worst dressed attendee - in fact it's distinctly possible that they will biff me out for being too scruffy. ;-)

Once again - anyone from here that wants to say hi, and catch up for a drink, feel free to come on up if you see me (BYO apple box to stand on - I am 6 foot 7 tall).

Good thinking - I normally wear a Sun shirt to MS events so I'll just carry on my tradition of stirring.

I wonder if our Vodafone account manager will donate me a shirt for the occassion?

Fossie: Are you taking the pimp mobile tony?

Nope... would use just as much fuel as the fraggin plane would lol.

I HATE flying with a vengeance, but I just cant spare the time to drive for this event. :(

Have driven Auckland to ChCh before to avoid having to fly.

Pimp mobile used 50-60 litres petrol doing speed limit from Palmy North to Hastings. (1.5 hours).
43 year old 6500cc engine lol

owenw: oh my goodness your signature made me laugh, so, so hard.

(preserved here as it will be changed at some point):

"If you ever do want to kill yourself, but lack the courage, I think a visit to Palmerston North will do the trick."

That was actually said by John Cleese in the media a few years back after he performed there. It was pretty controversial, and is not a trivial subject, but nonetheless, if taken with a grain of salt, the effect of utter hilarity is definitely present.

They shoulda got John Cleese, and maybe Palin, or one of the others from Python to be the face of XT.

"I don't know what it does, and frankly I don't care - but they are giving me lots of money to tell you its rather good."

^^^^^^^ now THAT would be some truth in advertising.

lolol

Lol, that's really epic, but there's so much truth in both of those statements!
